I blame Brexit.
Looks like the Avanti has gone wrong line from Symington to Beattock. Rescue loco currently showing south of CarstairsCheers. We are still stationary and no sign of a loco. Train is in darkness and pretty tomb-like.
Wonder how long it will block the main line for. Any other time of the day and it would be carnage.

It’s a stock issue not a traction issue
Surely not a shortage of 150xx vehicles?
Trans Pennine seems to have gone wrong line to Beattock Summit as well. 1Z99 is now sitting at Symington. Whether that means it’s going to go wrong line to get to the front of the sleeper or not is anyone’s guess. Northbound lowlander & first northbound Trans Pennine both now waiting at Beattock summit
That is pretty poor. How can it take all night to get a rescue loco sorted? So 1M16 didnt get to the border, its took all night to get a rescue loco to the train and now everyone goes back to where they started?
Yes, it's a lot more settled now, both in terms of timekeeping and reliability of onboard equipment such as plumbing.
That's not to say that you might not find yourself in the middle of a spectacular delay, but those happened often enough with the old stock as well.
One less good piece of feedback I've had in the past week or so is that bits are starting to fall off in cabins already. Heating and lighting control knobs are starting to break, that sort of thing. Of course we all know what CAF stands for...
Yeah, pretty much. Getting off at Carlisle and heading back to Perth. The train is continuing South though.I think we should nominate 47 for an award for tempting fate
Sounds like a meltdown last night not seen for a while.
To clarify, the southbound lowlander Edinburgh portion was cancelled and guests had to wait for the southbound highlander.
Southbound highlander then had loco fault south of Carstairs and stuck for 6 (six) hours and only just on the move now.
Is that the gist of it?
I bet the ones that went on the highlander portion insteadv of the edinburgh are glad they did now.I think we should nominate 47 for an award for tempting fate

Does anyone know if the southbound highlander is going to London? I might go and see it at Crewe if it is.
92020 working the sleeper south now the failed loco 92038 now at edinburgh.
Ah right i misread a post and a tops list.038 came off 1S25. 020 is the failure which is currently being assisted south by 023.
It's just left Carlisle. The only problem is the driver swap at Preston as the driver at Preston might now be out of time, or there might not be another driver to take over.
Assuming Avanti are willing to accept tickets...It's being followed by two Avanti services, one direct to London and one via Birmingham, so if the Sleeper gets to Preston without being looped the passengers may as well change there.
Point taken, and I have to admit that I wouldn't have answered the question as I did 24 hours later. My sympathies to everyone caught up last night.I think we should nominate 47 for an award for tempting fate

Due in at 1339 according to RTT, so that's the sleeper + all the other trains delayed and cancelled around it.Deary me, what a shambles!
Is that lack of spare locos coming back to bite them on the rear?
That’s a pretty hefty delay by any count. Looking like a midday arrival?
