Yes, but I don't think First H+D ever ran one in service. Something happened and First lost the tender and it went back to GA/Damory. This happening wasn't a surprise as Damory/W+D had been running it for god knows how long and obviously wouldn't go down without a fight.
I was going to say much the same. The X38 portion remained with Arriva when they sold the Burton depot to Midland Choice.Arriva operate a Derby to Burton and a Leicester to Burton via Coalville service.

The 29/29A was also retained as you say. When Midland Fox sold Swadlincote depot to Stevensons on privatisation, that was the one route that they retained in the area as it was a Coalville depot route.
Also, don't Stagecoach get to Buxton on the 65?
Yes Stagecoach run the the 65 from Buxton to SheffieldI was going to say much the same. The X38 portion remained with Arriva when they sold the Burton depot to Midland Choice.

Beat me to those ones. You can throw Erskine in with that lot too.Gourock, Port Glasgow, Johnstone and Barrhead here in the west coast of Scotland are primarily served by McGill's. Barrhead was served by Stagecoach Western's X44 until December but solely McGill's now.
True, forgot about the remnants of Arriva. It's Midland Classic, not Choice.

I knew Stagecoach went to Buxton,I just couldn't remember where from or the number so thank youI was going to say much the same. The X38 portion remained with Arriva when they sold the Burton depot to Midland Choice.

They are starting to expand up north nowadays, after buying Queens Road depot in Manchester from First (forming Go North West) and East Yorkshire Motors on top of their more established Go North East, so it's definitely starting to get bigger!I suppose so. GoAhead are a more southerly operator compared to the other 3
Isn't Citylink technically Stagecoach or am I missing something here?Another town is Fort William where stagecoach used to operate until a couple of years ago.
Ripon stands out cos it's a city, so holds a rather rare honour of being one of the very few cities in Britain to NOT be served by any of the big four, although if express coaches count, it is served by a daily National Express to London so it isn't in the big 6 league. There is one city I know of that isn't served by any of the big 6 whatsoever (buses, coaches, anything) which happens to be Britain's smallest city as well: St Davids in Pembrokeshire, which is only served by an hourly T11 connecting Fishguard & Haverfordwest by local independent Richards Bros, with any other (infrequent and seasonal) bus services being operated by the same company. Other small cities do have at least something from the big 4: St Asaph has Arriva, Wells and Truro have First, Ely has Stagecoach, Bangor has an Arriva depot, etc. Of course, any larger than this for places with city status will definitely have something from the big 4, so it seems Ripon and St Davids are the ONLY cities in Britain to not be served by anything from the big four (St Davids not having anything from the big 6) unless someone else could point something out!Northallerton in North Yorkshire. All bus services are operated by local independent operators (Abbotts, Hodgsons and Proctors) or by North Yorkshire County Council themselves.
Thirsk and Ripon are both contenders too, services operated by Transdev or local independents.
Aberystwyth in Mid-Wales ever since Arriva pulled out of the area; now an assortment local independents, some under the TrawsCymru brand (it's a central hub for most TrawsCymru services). However, that's if you don't count express coaches, as Stagecoach operates in the form of Megabus; National Express operates a daily service to London too, although via the West Midlands rather than South Wales.

I think the services to Fort William are either West Coast motors or sheil buses in Citylink livery
Ah I forgot about that oneFirst Cymru operate the T1 from Carmarthen so that rules Aberystwyth out.
Ah I see, so that means St Davids is officially the only city in Britain to not be served by any of the big 6; not even a daily NatEx coach cos they don't go beyond Haverfordwest (don't understand why they don't just extend the 508 and 528 to St Davids though, only a relatively short extension)Arriva serve Ripon on Summer Sunday services on Dalesbus services
Belfast.Ah I forgot about that one

Machynolleth isn't served by any of the big 6.
Knutsford, Wilmslow, Alderley Edge, Holmes Chapel are served by D&G so not one of the big 6
Rawtenstall, Burnley, Keighley, Nelson, Colne and Harrogate all served by Transdev so not one of the big 3.
Just a few here but there will be plenty more. Not served by the big 6 is the harder one to work out though.
Given this is the Buses and Coaches thread, I assumed the OP was referring to buses and coaches only and not including trains.I was just about to mention Wilmslow, which Arriva ceased serving the past week when they withdrew the 130 (D&G now run a truncated version, as well as route 88). Stagecoach run within a few miles (Manchester Airport), while First are involved in Avanti West Coast, and at least for the next month Arriva are involved in Northern Rail...
I said in Britain, not UK so NI doesn't count cos that's all Translink and Bus EirannBelfast.
Yup, there are loads of towns not served by any of the big 6 but St Davids is the only one of them that holds city status; btw Burnley ain't one of them cos that's served by a First route to Halifax and NatEx coaches to London!Machynlleth isn't served by any of the big 6.

Damn. I knew someone would find some services there.Burnley has an hourly First service to Todmorden, Hebden, and Halifax.
Harrogate has a Yorkshire Tiger (part of Arriva) service to Leeds Airport and Bradford.
