I sent my delay repay claim to the wrong TOC

I was delayed on a TPE but sent the claim to Northern (and actually said in the claim that specificially it was a Northern service, when it wasn't). Obviously I can tell the difference between Nothern and TPE and spent the journey moaning about TPE.

But I'd just (correctly) submitted a delay repay claim to Northern for the outbound journey (delayed both out and return) so my brain was obviously in 'Northern are crap' mode!

I've emailed the generic Northern delay repay mailbox to let them know - will I need to do anything else or will it get sent on automatically to TPE?

Thanks!

If everything goes right, the TOC who receives this will send it onwards to the correct TOC for processing of the claim.

Whilst i am quick to (in my opinion justifiably) complain about the frankly awful delay repay system Northern have in place, they do seem very fast to send this to a different operator on your behalf so i would hope you wouldn't need to do anything other than just wait. My experience was them sending a claim to TPE too so this should be ok. In my case, they were WRONG and the compensation was owed by them but this isn't likely relevant.

I would personally submit the claim to TPE. You have informed Northern so you cannot be said to be trying to defraud the system. The is a chance that the person at Northern will read your email and assume no further action of any kind is required and they don't even need to send it to TPE.

Another reason is if Northern don't send it to TPE, by the time to contact them you might be over the 28 day time limit. So, to play it safe, go online now and submit your claim to TPE while it is still "in time". If TPE was to receive your claim again from Northern, their systems should show you have been paid out already once your ticket number is put into the system.

Bearing in mind what others have said about Northern being quick to forward claims, I suggest that you give Northern a chance to do so before contacting TPE. But make sure you contact TPE within the 28 day limit if you don't hear anything before then. If you have to do so, I would also make sure to inform TPE that you had previously put in a claim to Northern, which you now realise was a mistake, so it doesn't look like you are trying to claim twice if they receive your original claim from Northern.

In hindsight, it might have been better if you had sent your mistake email to both Northern and TPE, as that would have registered your claim with TPE.
