You've been busy. Might not be so enjoyable next week with the weather conditions.
Perhaps they'll send all the pacers out just in case a tree or two falls on the line. Wouldn't want those PRM compliant units to fall victim if possible.

142071 was at Newcastle this afternoon on 5G16 from Heaton to York. Thinking it might be the last time I see a Pacer in Newcastle!

Great photo, Was that on rtt?, i didn't see it.
Thanks, the sun was almost perfect for the picture. The train was on RTT, but I didn't see it there initially. I just turned up at Newcastle station and saw the Pacer on platform 8.

Did you think you were seeing things?.
I certainly did think that - I had to do a double take. There's another path in RTT tomorrow that could be a unit returning from York to Heaton. It's scheduled to pass through platform 4 in Newcastle at 1736.

And then you've got to dash over the bridge thinking i bet the damn thing pulls out and i miss it. Just my luck :D.
Thanks for the info, i'll keep an eye out.

Also in relation to no pacers after the 17th, they will be keeping 4 at newton Heath after this date on rose hill/new mills and sheffield services

It might be the last time that anything ever uses Newcastle Platform 8 per se, given its short available length, at least for approaches from the King Edward Bridge.

will these have set diagramms or not because at momment usually 4 cover this. i know on rtt there is some moves next weekend . however hope 1649 sheffield remains same for a bit longer. pity we have to suffer that annoying hour off extra dark in evening. nothing like a nice dusk pink sky pacer ride on hope valley in evening. unless they do some saturday easter prm double unit services. however on hope valley do you know when these will be extended to. diagramms will remain same or not. also just other places forums are speculating up to 7. which suggest the four diagramms remain, but if its four one might go. but which. but thanks for the addit info

142061 just left Sheffield locked out on the rear of the 21:14 Hope Valley stopper. It was paired with 150135 after a swap at Man Picc.

I saw this class 142 at the north end of York station at 16.00 today. Number 142068, clearly just off the route learning today. It could well be the last time I’ll ever take a photo’ of a 142 at York.

Perhaps the heaters weren't working so they crammed 4 cars into two to make it snug.
You're damn right they weren't!
I know the work on Grindleford and Hathersage station platforms causes extra work for the conductors of some 4 coach trains bound for Manchester, sometimes requiring doors to be opened locally. It's possibly for that reason.
Yeah, I was ready for a warm when I got off it :)

That is the reason, but you'd be hard pressed to fill one carriage let alone 4 on the 21.14 so no point in opening all of them. It skip stops Dore, the station which is the busiest before New Mills. No trains to Dore between the 20.14 and 22.47 so most of us don't get a train out of town in the evenings!

Two trains an hour in the evenings back from Manchester though.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but on Question Time on 30/1, James Cleverley, the Conservative Party chairman, clearly stated that he got a Pacer to Buxton to attend the QT panel.

He didn't report the number but this must have been a rare sight because I didn't think they were still permitted to run to Buxton ; perhaps a Short Term Derogation for members of the political elite ... either that or he must have had a long walk ... or he might, heaven forbid, have been talking rubbish and not know his Pacers from his 150s.

(PS : He also claimed that Boris Johnson was responsible for getting rid of the Pacers)
