Just messaged by daughter who lives by the sidings, she has confirmed there is a passenger train there. Wonder why it didn't make it down to the depot.

There was disruption/congestion at central due to cable theft - it set off late so maybe the loco had to return before it got to Canton? Or maybe limited space at Canton?

Now we wait to see if it moves under its own power any time before Easter.

A TfW spokesman has stated in RAIL 896, p. 22, that the 769s will be introduced in passenger service on the Rhymney line from the May 2020 TT change. As with anything related to the 769s, I think that needs to be taken with several buckets of salt though.

Slightly more believable than May 2019 though

The interior 769 photos on the TfW website show re-covered 3+2 seating sadly

First test of 769 on 16 February apparently. This is about fourth hand information so I can't be sure of how reliable it is.

That's been quoted a few times might actually happen especially since it might be a good sign that 008 is the carriage sidings rather than the workshops

A second 769 is getting a TfW livery, sneakily poking out of the shed with half red doors.

Any updates on this? Paths on RTT? Will they take them up to Rhymney I wonder?
From what I've heard (so take it with a pinch of salt)...

Training starts next week but around the depot only
First trip out of the depot in 3-4weeks
769002 is being wrapped this week in TfW livery
769006 delivered to Canton soon

They need to get a move on, looks like some of the 37's are being held together with gaffer tape at the moment

The climate has been changing faster than the progress on getting the 769s into service.
