Just a gentle reminder that this thread is to discuss
Progress of delivery of cascaded/refurbished/PRM modified stock to TFW/Wales and Borders and isn't for requests for unit numbers or personal conversations

If you spot anything that isn't on topic, the best thing to do is to press the Report button, which appears under each post.

Thanks :)

No they’re not PRM, and I don’t believe there’s plans to make them complaint as they’re covering short term for 769s
Ah ok was wondering as never seen them and I'm in West Wales another area likely to see them

Surely it will take a few months for it to enter TfW circulation?

Months might be a bit excessive, weeks is probably closer to the mark: as it's the last unit to transfer, Canton staff are up to speed on how to maintain them, and drivers and guards have already been trained too. All they'll need to do is any maintenance or modifications that they feel is needed on the unit.

Oh ok are they using the tfw interior or not and obviously it will need a new livery

Conveniently, they're already in a red-and-white livery used by Greater Anglia (see this as-delivered picture, for example), and I think an interior refurbishment has been deferred until more urgent matters (like PRM mods and withdrawing Pacers) are dealt with. I'm not fully up-to-date on what's being done, though, given that they're operating at the other end of the country from me.

@anamyd could probably give you more detail in what exactly has been done to each 170 unit, though.

They were refurbished by GA in 2018. They added plug sockets, refurbished the seats with new cushions, backs and covers, put in new carpets and new flooring in the toilets, refurbished the heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, added new wall panels, repainted the vestibules, grab handles and grab rail and did a deep clean. I don't think they'll need much doing to them inside for a few years.

So in basis they will likely come up west how they are currently?

In addition to the above, does anyone know if any of the ex-East Midlands 153s have entered service as "Welsh" units, or any more ex-Anglia ones than already have...?
