Hi All,

I am due to travel tomorrow, however, if I need to abandon my rail journey and make an alternative way there how do I go about claiming a refund on my tickets?

They are split tickets via Trainsplit, all the TOCs along the journey have said a fee free refund can be obtained due to the storm and service changes as a consequence.

One of the tickets is an advance so pretty straightforward that I just apply for that from Trainsplit (I think?) however the other is an anytime return and I have already used the outbound journey so not sure whether Trainsplit will be able to refund it?

Thanks

If you wish to refund tickets (in whole or part) you should go to the retailer. Whether that is a TOC or third party retailer is irrelevant.

If you choose not to travel it's a full refund from the retailer.

If you decide to return on a different day, it might be worth keeping the return half of your anytime ticket. The return half of a saver or super-saver return can usually be used up to one month after the outward journey, you don't have to use it on the date you were booked to return.

You can do any of these things:
- Make the journey when practicable and claim Delay Repay (effectively getting a free journey)
- Use the tickets on a different day (ie. tomorrow in the case of Advance fares or any day within the validity period in the case of walk-up fares)
- Obtain a refund (as you made the outward journey, this will be 50% of the value of any return fares used for the return journey and 100% of the value of any single fares) and make your own arrangements using another mode of transport

If the company you were due to travel with is unable to get you to your destination but any other companies are running trains which you are able to physically board, you are entitled to use those trains without further charge, using your original tickets, under NRCoT Condition 28.2

Thanks all - I did end up abandoning in the end and have just had a reply from Raileasy confirming my refund after using the link Adam gave.
