Posted this on thread “TPE split ticket delay repay problems” but advised I should open a new thread.

Thanks for everyone correcting my error so may I tap into the knowledge that this forum provides. Using the example of the journey the OP on the “TPE split ticket delay repay problems“ thread made but in a slightly different way, if I was to travel from London to Carlisle on two tickets London - Manchester and Manchester - Carlisle and stopped off in Manchester for six hours to visit friends, do the National Conditions allow me to claim delay repay for the total journey if I experience a delay on the Manchester - Carlisle train only. If so, great. If not, what is the break point from being able to claim and not.

In the example you use, that is clearly two separate journeys. That is because you have broken your journey at Manchester Piccadilly to go and do other things.

Thanks - this is what I was anticipating. Another query to help me understand delay repay and the National conditions: If I made the same journey as before but the tickets were Euston - Stockport and Stockport - Carlisle (not advance) and I broke the journey in Manchester for lunch at the station with a friend ( say 75 mins) and the Manchester - Carlisle train was delayed, what would my delay repay claim be?

You'd be asked to fill in the details of the train you wanted to catch from Stockport. If this connected to a train at Manchester that ran to time your claim would be refused. If you contacted the operator directly then someone with enough knowledge may look to compensating you to the value (or part thereof depending on delay length) of a Manchester Carlisle ticket (after checking that it is lower priced, which is is by a few quid based on the SVR), or they may just pay out as if you were delayed from Stockport as it is easier.
Some operators would just reject the claim outright.
