North Wales is a lovely place, I personally enjoy Llandudno, Prestatyn, Conwy. Talacre is a peaceful place with a nice beach.

Rhyl, on the other hand, is somewhere to avoid at all costs.

Wrexham isn't that bad, but suffers from drug problems particularly the use of Spice. Luckily Chester is just a very short trip away

A lot of places have that issue, Manchester Piccadilly Gardens is almost the home of it. TBH I'd make it Class A and just let people smoke dope if they want (subject to the same laws as smoking tobacco), the effect is nowhere near as bad.

Blackpool is atrocious anywhere near the front, seedy hotels, run down b&b area and the pubs packed with morons.

Almost every time we have been to the Grand Theatre or Winter Gardens even in the early afternoon! We have witnessed mass brawls inside and outside pubs, drunk aggressive people wanting to fight with a couple going to the theatre. Loutish behaviour, vomiting and using the street as a toilet.

I cannot think of one single thing Rhyl has going for it. I love Wales and the North Coast of Wales is one of the most beautiful parts of the UK but its like a gorgeous woman having a wart at the end of her nose when I think of Rhyl against the rest of North Wales.

I'm not sure Colwyn Bay is much better. Llandudno is, though.

Colne is a nice town with all sorts of interesting shops and pubs. Including famously the three micropubs side by side.

I've only visited once, but when I did I thought it a bit average, not overly nice but not bad either, a typical Lancashire ex-mill town, really.

At least it's better than Nelson (though Nelson has a decent bus/rail station). Barrowford is now the posh end of Nelson and had some quite good shops, but then Booths came, and the smaller food shops couldn't really compete.

That's such a difficult one, as Booths is excellent (and it itself not a massive business).

I always think of Juliet Bravo when Colne & Nelson get mentioned.

Much of the TV series was filmed around there, along with parts of Burnley.

Very little has changed in the area, although there are no Austin Maestros on the roads these days.

Both Llandudno and Colwyn Bay are lovely in my opinion and worlds apart from, meaning no offence, the desperately grim Rhyl. I've always liked North Wales but Rhyl and Deeside are dismal parts.

A few nice towns off the top of my head: Southport, Formby, Kendal, Bowness-on-Windermere, Gourock, Helensburgh, Milngavie, Seaford, Eastbourne, Llangollen and Sutton Coldfield.

I have a fond memory of a family day out at the beach at Colwyn Bay in 1972. As a 15 year old, playing on the sand had long lost its appear, so I sat on the beach wall and was treated to a procession of locos and DMUs passing on the embankment, seem to remember there were a lot less trees back then

I've sailed past IoW on my way to Spain but I've never actually stepped foot on the island. I lived in St Annes too for a short time but i wasn't keen on it.

The Isle of Wight is a real gem. I particularly love west Wight as it’s a lot quieter than the eastern side of the island, plus it has fantastic views across to Dorset.

Colwyn Bay was ruined by putting the "by-pass" through the town centre next to the railway. And whilst it might be good for trade, neither Rhyl nor New Brighton were improved visually by planting concrete monstrosities on the waterfront.

I stayed there for 2 nights last year, and was impressed. I liked staying in Ryde, and the scenery was superb, particularly on the west side. Pretty villages too, and mostly friendly people.
I was certainly not impressed with Newport though, and felt unsafe there with large groups causing trouble and no police. That was not a 'nice town'!

In my stomping ground, I think Whitstable and Broadstairs are excellent towns. Whitstable does become a little unbearable in the summer though. Sandwich is very quiet, but pretty and peaceful, and a great atmosphere when their various festivals are on.
Lots of people really like Deal. I think it's good, but there is something about it that I'm not quiet keen on, and I'm not actually sure what it is.
I think most of Folkestone is rather dire, but I think their Old Town and Harbour Arm are excellent. Dover could certainly do with some TLC, but I have a soft spot for it. Full of history from various ages, and it certainly feels like things are getting better for the place (although I'm sure many will be intrigued with how the 'B' will effect the port, a major employer). A walk along the refurbished seafront with a view of the Castle and the ferries entering the port is exceptional. There are some pretty villages around Dover, which are now really suburbs, which some may be surprised to see (lots of stone houses in a deep valley along chalk rivers)

I'd go for Whitby just up the coast.

I always instantly think of Mick Hucknall, Simply Red & Holding Back the Years when I think of Whitby.

The music video really did capture the beauty of the place.

Was visiting relatives in Shropshire this weekend, and was very impressed with Shrewsbury.
Very nice town, with loads of quaint medieval buildings.
Bridgnorth and Ludlow are very nice as well!

Should really put the whole of Shropshire, as the scenery is very pretty as well

The estate near the football ground is a hell hole however, I spent a whole day with mates in the local estate pub when my team was visiting and we couldn't have met nicer people, it was some sort of family funday taking place that day in the pub. We were well looked after. The match was a friendly and there was not a spot of bother. Bouncers on the door even said we were the best set of fans ever to visit the town. Cracking day, only complaint was that you couldn't get a pint after 11pm on a Sunday night.
