You should definitely brush up on the history of Crossrail, projects they are involved with, where they operate etc as it’s likely to come up and also good to know the history of the company you want to work for. It was kind of a mixture between relaxed chit chat and then questions about your working ways, more relaxed than the mmi though. Hope this helps you a bit
That's great, thanks for the insight, have eased my mind knowing a little of what to expect and what to do my research on.

I’m currently out the country until Thursday so I was hoping they would have sent me a letter or an email but nothing as of yet (not sure about a letter). Have you been contacted at all?

Dear All

I am hoping to start at MTR Crossrail as a trainee driver in 2019. I am obviously very excited and nervous at the same time (a typically risk averse career changer). I would be very grateful if there is anyone out there who could share their experiences of being a trainee driver at MTR (how have you found the training, how long roughly did it last, how are the company, how does pay progress?)

Everything I have read seems really positive, but any additional information would be very much appreciated.

Company are very good compared to other TOCs in my opinion. Training for me took exactly 1 year but that was when there was a shortage of instructors however i have heard recent groups taking 9 months so its improved.
Pretty sure whilst training the money has gone up from 28k to 30k. After you are qualified you will jump up to 45k and a year from qualifying you go up to full rate of 60k.

I can say its nothing to do with brexit lol this is just the process im afraid. It can be extremely slow especially as there are so many drivers in training and in the company in general all who need to be placed.
