But why haven't they been accepted? What's the point of leaving them rotting in sidings?
Why don’t you ask Stadler and/or GA?

Perhaps they haven’t passed their fault-free running? Or maybe they just want to give people something to grumble about?

Are both the 745s out today? Was only one out yesterday

All of the following were cancelled:
0648 Norwich to London Liverpool Street - Train Fault
0900 London Liverpool Street to Norwich - Train Fault
1130 Norwich to London Liverpool Street - Train Fault
1400 London Liverpool Street to Norwich - Train Fault
1630 Norwich to London Liverpool Street - Not Investigated
1902 London Liverpool Street to Norwich - Late inbound service

Which unit was it that was out for the day?
Think it was 007. She's back out to play today.

Saw 007 in the sidings closest to the Crown Point sheds at 5pm last night, so guess 010 was on its own.
17.30 Norwich to London was a 745 but couldn't confirm it was 010.
Perhaps 007 was feeling shaken not.... OK I'm going.

On 010, the 1500 ex Liverpool Street. All going well until just before Manningtree, where we came to a sudden halt. I think the front of the train is probably in the platform.
Announcement after a few minutes that we have a train fault and the brakes won't release. Currently doing a reboot...

Due to earlier disruption, 007 and 010 are now currently sitting side by side at Norwich. 007 on 17:30 to Liverpool Street for anyone curious.

010 seemed to behave after the reboot. Further delay at Ipswich, we were told due to a broken down train at Needham Market. But nothing was showing on traksy and we were on our way after a few minutes.
For some reason the water boiler and coffee machines weren't in use, and it was coffee out of a flask and "tea" made with water out of a flask. It wasn't even steaming hot so I had a coffee, which I was at just about acceptable drinking temperature. Flasks had clearly been on the train from previous service.

Im afraid there are no coffee machines on 745/0 fleet. It's just Lavazza air-pots as you had today which I must admit I like. Other speciality coffees are just packet mix made up with (boiling) water by the cafe host.

I cannot understand why the 745's so slow in service in comparison to 755s, the 745's are electric only and only used to be used on two routes, whereas the 755's are bi mode and work lots of routes so the driver training, acceptance, testing, route clearance etc should be quicker and simpler on the 745s than 755s but the opposite has happened with a quick introduction for 755s and slow for 745s.

Oh I'm not fussed about fancy coffee machines. I did see a couple of percolators behind the counter, I guess they are used to fill the flasks. I prefer a filter or even instant coffee to the espresso based creations.
But tea made with "hot water" is a dreadful abomination and I refuse to purchase said beverage. I'm sure the only other time I was on a 745 it was made properly with water out of a boiler.
I'd rather have a cup of tea, but it's a no brainer to go for the coffee if the water is nowhere near boiling.
Can't imagine the porridge pots will work very well with "hot water" either.

What is an air-pot? One of those evil single use plastic filters that sits in mid air on the cup?

No, just a big pot that you pump hot water or coffee out of thanks to a handbe at the top. Looks like a huge flask really.

Same pots they have on the trolley now paired with smaller cups and micro packs of biscuits in first. Soon you will bring coffee and food to feed the train crew!

That would have been 745010, only saw 745007 around Ipswich, and 007 was the only one around yesterday.

Full buffet service restored today.

There was a full buffet on that particular train too. There are no coffee machines on the 745s.
Let me clarify. Last time I was on a 745 (745007), the coffee came out of a percolator machine jug. Tea was made with boiling water from a faucet or tank.
Yesterday (on 745010), the two percolator machines (Bravilor Bonamat, for the coffee machine enthusiasts) were in place behind the counter, but not in use. Coffee was out of a flask as was the water for tea.

It was a 'suspect package' on a Cambridge.

I guess the obvious answer is that they had no choice with the 755s because their old DMUs were needed elsewhere, whereas timing isn't quite as critical for the 745s.

That is, 1730 Norwich T.C. to Ipswich (1811), with return 1816 Ipswich to Norwich T.C. (1858)
