Is there anyway to see all fight arrival and departures from London Heathrow on a particular day ?

There is a website that does that, but it's very clunky to use - you have to first go to the home page, then select the airport, then the calendar date and then open a file with the log of that date. It will show you the registration, type, flight, etc.

Just thought I’d share this as I hadn’t heard of it before - aviationtag.com

They sell pieces of scrapped airframes turned into tags. Just got myself a piece of 9V-SKA:

That looks weird, seeing A380s scrapped already! However, I do like the concept of the tag. I have seen it popping up on Instagram or Twitter before now, not yet looked at it properly.

Another A380 went off for scrap on Thursday, Air France F-HPJB, to Knock in Ireland. Almost 10 years old to the day.

Geordie back from exile.
I was on sister aircraft and fellow scrapee 9V-SKB 4 years ago this month on part of a trip from HKG-PER, of the 4 aircraft I was on, that was the oldest. Looks like I may be too late to get a bit of that bird....

I can't remember what they were called, but there was a company on Dragons' Den recently that made all kinds of things out of scrapped planes. They didn't get an investment, but they sold a chair to one of the Dragons.

I suspect I know the answer already but is it cheaper to book a return flight instead of a one way flight and two, if you were to book a return flight are you obligated to board the return flight or can you make other arrangements?

Depends on the airline. It often isn't these days.

Technically yes you are, but as a one-off they won't likely do anything about it. If you keep doing it expect a bill.

Check the fare conditions. Some airlines have wised up to the fact that people were taking advantage of return fares being cheaper than one way fares, so the conditions of a no-show have changed to say no refund is due for the unused portion of the airfare. Another example: Perth to India flights are often cheaper than Perth to Dubai flights on Emirates, so people were buying tickets to India and not using the Dubai-India portion. Think Emirates changed the fare conditions to say you must travel the whole route to stop that happening.

If you don't use one part of the ticket and 'no-show' for the flight then the airline may well cancel the rest of the itinerary.

Do wonder if we'd be here if Flybe had remained true to its routes and stayed as a purely domestic and regional airline rather than trying to weakly muscle in on European flights.

Also got to wonder how many regional airports are going to suffer badly after this? Can't imagine the future of Exeter or Southampton is very bright now.

Yes, its really sad. I believe some 2,000 jobs are at risk now.

Some will certainly feel it, especially if they don't have a lot of charter routes operating out of them. It might be possible that some routes might be picked up by Ryanair or EasyJet, but I suspect many will not.

Saw a stat claiming 90% of passenger operations at Southampton were FlyBe (with the rest being almost entirely Auringy to the Channel Islands, who ran codeshare with FlyBe). Belfast City ~80%. Exeter will be in the same region

Wondering if Loganair, Stobart or Eastern Airways might make a move on the vacuum of British Isles regional flights. A whole lot of Dash 8s have just become available.

It was Blue Islands who flew codeshare with Flybe, not Aurigny.

Blue Islands are still flying.

Except that Flybe's fundamental problem was using aircraft that were too big for their routes. While that is obviously true for the E-jets I would suggest quite a few routes were being over-provided for with Dash-8s. Hence replacement services might have to wait until idle Jetstreams or Saabs can be found.

Just got back from The Grand Duchy for my bi-annual B&H replenishment outing.

Weird on BA yesterday, my 3pm flight from Edinburgh to Heathrow was rammed but the connecting flight to Luxembourg later in the Evening had barely 30 people onboard. Only 2 in Club Europe. I can't understand with such a light loading why they didn't offer a bargain upgrade to Club when I went to check in online. I had looked before and they wanted 200 sov's.

Came back this afternoon direct on Ryanair which had about 90 on. Took off from LUX at 4.15pm UK time and back in my flat in Falkirk before 7pm.

Noticed out Flag has disappeared from outside the numerous EU buildings in Luxembourg.
