All that’s happened is that LNER have realised they cannot continue with the current short forms and stock problems and have come up with a way to spin it.

Why not? It's a positive rather than a negative, they may as well advertise the fact

What's left of a 91 - debagded and denumbered - was standing in the Wabtec yard just off platform 8 Doncaster about an hour ago. No pantograph, most of the front end missing, and think something had been done to the wheels but I only had a quick look.

I believed it is 91108!

I’ve been told by a friend that 91110 failed twice within a couple of days of eachother, I seen a video of 67012 dragging the set in service but not sure when the other failure was? If anyone can help :) thanks

Yesterday as far as I know, dragged from Edinburgh to London by 67015 (with 67012 being earlier in the week, also on an Edinburgh-London). Nothing odd about a 91 failing though

Oh dear. It did the 19.00 Kings Cross to Edinburgh on Friday 21st Feb. Others out on Friday 21st were 91107 on the 19.30 Kings Cross to Edinburgh and 91115 on the 18.30 Kings Cross to Edinburgh (full and standing to Doncaster!).

67016 did yesterdays drag, and that was an empty stock working rather than the in-service working with 67012 earlier in the week

It's being reported on the Class 91 Appreciation and Photography Group on Facebook that today is 91125's last day in service

So I understand that 91132 was withdrawn from service at the end of January.

Is it still at Bounds Green or has it moved elsewhere since?

Absolute lunacy given the daily unavailability of the Azumas. Hitachi ought to be paying to keep them on, but we know what a wonderful contract the DfT negotiated.

Aren't there penalties for Hitachi if they don't deliver the required number of units?

Yes, but there are apparently plenty of get outs, too, such that if the sets aren't "delivered" back to Hitachi at the right time and the right place then late release to traffic the next day isn't penalised.

"Clarence Yard" has far more detail on it.

Noticed a rake of Mark IV’s sitting near Craigentinny depot (not attached to a 91), have these been withdrawn?

Seems silly to withdraw Mark IVs when services always seem to run short formed, 5 vice 9/10 with a shortage of Azumas.

91104 was towed from Bounds Green to Doncaster, to then be forwarded to Crewe.

Also today 47813 is hauling 91122 & 91128 from Leicester to Crewe

What are these 91s heading to Crewe for?
91122 and 91128 are the two locos being leased by Rail Operations Group to undertake testing of the new MML wires between Bedford and Corby from the end of the month: They're being fitted with modified pantographs.
ROG to use Class 91s for Midland Main Line electrification testing
05/02/2020 in Network
https://www.railmagazine.com/news/n...for-midland-main-line-electrification-testing

Testing of the newly electrified Bedford-Corby route will begin in late March/early April, using a newly acquired electrification test train.

Operated by Rail Operations Group, two Class 91s and a rake of eight Mk 3s will be used to test the new infrastructure, ahead of East Midlands Railway introducing planned electric services on the route from December.

The Midland Main Line is being electrified from Bedford to Kettering/Corby and Market Harborough.

Rail Operations (UK) Limited, ROG’s parent company, is leasing 91122 and 91128 from Eversholt Rail for the project and is actively looking to expand its operations to other schemes.

The on-board test equipment is being supplied by Data Acquisition & Testing Services Ltd (DATS), which will carry out the various tests on the infrastructure. Testing and data equipment will be carried aboard the Mk 3s (the former ‘Pretendolino’ rake of stock last used by TransPennine Express).

The two ‘91s’ will be fitted with modified pantographs to enable analysis of the overhead wires. There is also the option to include a third electric locomotive in the centre of the train.
I'm assuming therefore that 91104 is the third locos mooted in the final sentence of the article.

Cheers. I believed they were for that but wasn't sure about the move to Crewe. Makes sense now

  • BN20: Coaches B/C/F/H/L & DVT (12224, 12477, 12326, 10321, 11320, 82200) are in the Alstom Technical Facility at Widnes for refurbishment/overhaul, prior to use with GC. Coaches D/E (12439 & 12440) are in Doncaster Works, and coaches K/M (11241, 11420) are in Worksop.

  • BN22: Coaches B/C/F/H/L & DVT (12210, 12452, 12316, 10301, 11322, 82230) are (as of 06/03) in Wembley for training with GC. Coaches D/E/K/M (12460, 12473, 11291, 11422) are in Worksop, and expected to be moved to Booth's by road.
  • BN23: Coaches B/C/H/L & DVT (12225, 12454, 10325, 11323, 82226) are on TfW training runs along the North Wales Coast, based out of Crewe. Coaches D/E/K/M (12456, 12455, 11292, 11423) are scrapped, while coach F (12318) remains in store at Worksop.
  • BN24: Coaches B/C/H/L & DVT (12219, 12447, 10328, 11324, 82229) are on TfW training runs along the North Wales Coast, based out of Crewe. Coaches D/E/K/M (12425, 12403, 11293, 11424) are scrapped, while coach F (12319) remains in store at Worksop.
  • BN25: Coaches B/C/H/L & DVT (12217, 12446, 10312, 11325, 82216) are for TfW training runs along the North Wales Coast, based out of Crewe (but have yet to leave Eastleigh). Coaches D/E/K/M (12425, 12403, 11293, 11424) are at Doncaster (IIRC), while coach F (12322) remains in store at Worksop.

One online source stated that 11327 has been moved to Booth's, which I'm disputing until sufficient evidence is given.
  • BN28: Coaches B/F/H/L & DVT (12218, 12320, 10310, 11328, 82217) are in use with LNER as spares. Coaches C/K/M (12458, 11273, 11428) are scrapped. Coaches D/E (12463, 12533) are stored at Doncaster (AFAIK).

  • BN30: Coaches B/C/F/H/L & DVT (12227, 12471, 12331, 10329, 11330, 82203) are (as of 06/03) in Wembley for training with GC. Coaches D/E (12534, 12472) are stored at Long Marston (why is a mystery); coaches K/M (11999, 11430) are stored at Doncaster.
  • Spare coaches 12200 & 82224 are still with LNER.
