From what I've heard (so take it with a pinch of salt)...

Training starts next week but around the depot only
First trip out of the depot in 3-4weeks
769002 is being wrapped this week in TfW livery
769006 delivered to Canton soon
006 is already at Canton

TfW think they'll have the first of their 769s in passenger service before the May TT change. As usual with the 769s, seeing will be believing.

http://www.railmagazine.com/news/fleet/spring-debut-targeted-for-welsh-flex-bi-modes

Class 769 FLEX bi-mode trains could finally make their Transport for Wales passenger debut this spring, prior to the May timetable change.

The four-car trains, converted from Class 319 electric multiple units, were ordered by the Welsh Government in 2017 with the aim of entering traffic in May 2018. Initially five were ordered from Porterbrook, with a further four added to the deal.

However, so far none has been used in passenger traffic, with all three FLEX projects delayed (Northern has yet to put any of its eight into service, while Great Western Railway has yet to receive any of 19 tri-modes).

TfW spokesman Lewis Brencher told RAIL: “The first Class 769 unit is now at TfW’s Canton depot. Proving runs and crew training will commence over the next few weeks, and we’re currently planning to introduce the first of the ‘769s’ into service on the Rhymney Line during the spring, ahead of the May timetable change."

Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford told the Welsh Assembly Government last November in a Written Reply that “Porterbrook has been set repeated targets for the Class 769 trains, which have all been missed. TfW is working with Porterbrook to ensure the Class 769s enter service as soon as possible in 2020 and will displace Pacers as they enter service

Given that they’ve said this June 2 years running now, saying this spring means absolutely nothing.....
Only before Christmas Northern were confidently saying their 769s will be introduced in March. Now that's slipped again to at least May due to staff training requirements. The endless saga of the 769s is painfully frustrating.

Pathed as a Pacer so could be driver training on anything, possibly even 153's. If I am free I may stroll down to Aber and have a look.

Don't .take any notice of how it's timed. This Timing load is used for almosteverything in the Valleys.

RAIL magazine also confirming that TfW haven't been paying any leasing charges for the 769s, and won't pay anything for them until they enter passenger service. And the 9 extra 153s that they've had from Porterbrook to cover for the 769s have also been provided free of charge.

Checked the paths on RTT today and don't think they ran. Will look again tomorrow. I watched the webcam which overlooks Queens st bridge and saw nothing. Anyone know any different?

Saw that, just one up and one down. I suppose they need to reserve the paths even if they don't run.

Looks like they have the paths in every day for a run up and back. It will happen one day.

There was a video on Facebook showing 769008 waiting to leave Canton around lunchtime which I ant fi d now but I haven't seen sny photos of 769008 st rhymney

I don't think one went up to Rhymney at all. The STP ECS from Cardiff was a DMU to form the return working of the 1203 ex Penarth which was cancelled due to failure. Apologies for misleading people.

False dawn again. A FB post says it was only moving across to Pullmans for work. AGAIN

Facebook videos aren't always embeds from youtube, they are often uploaded directly to facebook and someone would have needed to consciously upload to both sites in order for it to be available on youtube.
Apologies, I read YouTube, not FB! Yes they are a pain to share.
