What's going on at Milton Keynes now, trains backing up, nothing moved in fifteen minutes or so, just usual Sunday night possessions and diversions?
How is the diesel gonna reverse? Guessing it'll have to go up to Bourne End/Hemel but it'll get in the way of the sleeper
I passed the stranded pendolino on Saturday afternoon, it's rear pantograph was a mangled mess!Yes we are always being told that we only have a fair weather railway. Turns out we don't even seem to have that. Anyone know what caused this one - dodgy pantograph or infrastructure?

Repairs began at 9pm according to article.
Is it the Down Fast that remains closed to electric traction?
There's a funny juxtaposition between your post and your sig. Either that, or the Down Fast's just been downgraded.Electric trains must not enter The Potato Siding.
The 9pm shutdown does not appear to have been announced much in advance. When I left home on Sunday to begin my journey to London, I knew about the problem with the OLE and that the service into Euston had been thinned. However, at about noon, journey planner was still telling me I was OK for a 10pm arrival into Euston. The first I knew of the 2100 shutdown was after we made an unscheduled stop at Milton Keynes to swap guards, and the replacement guard announced it. Fortunately I had decided to take a different route to usual that got me to Euston before the 9pm cut off.
When we got to Euston, all departures after 2100 were shown as cancelled. There must have been plenty of people who turned up to catch these trains, only to find everything cancelled. How were these people dealt with - hotels? Likewise what about people who travelled to places like Crewe and Birmingham, only to find their onward connection to Euston no longer running?
Seems to have disappeared now, was reported as 0Z99 390 at Kilburn goods Loop.Saturday's stricken 1S69 now tucked away in Kilburn Loop after problems raising the pantograph once the Thunderbird was detached.
Yesterday evening was a shambles on the WCML - at Manchester Picc anyway. Stuff arriving 1 hour late from the south (apparently the London wires problem, compounded by a tree fire affecting the overheads at Macc, plus a fatality between Lancaster and Preston. All this on top of a peak hour fatality near Huddersfield, which meant that my TPE train was diverted from Heaton Lodge Jn via Rochdale to Vic. It arrived there about 45 mins late having followed a stopper across the pennines, then crawled right through the Castlefield corridor losing several more minutes. At least the TPE did run through to its destination, which was some consolation for the airport passengers.Currently sat on the 2107 from Euston to Liverpool, which has had an extra stop at Stafford added in. Driver stops train outside Stafford as we’ve been put on a line with no platform. After some time we just carry on and the guard apologises saying those for Stafford will have to change at Crewe. Weird !
To be fair, there were at least 3 fatalities on the network close to yesterday’s evening peak, which thankfully isn’t a very regular occurrenceYesterday evening was a shambles
Must have been a nightmare for all the Man U fans wanting to get back home to Surrey.
