Just seen the new timetable for the Faresaver service from Bath to Devizes and see that there is no evening service to Urchfont anymore with all journeys terminating at Devizes.

Does this suggest that this section of route is sparsely used in the evening?

Or wiltshire Council not wanting to pay for it

It's part of the roman name for Bath; from Wikipedia:
The city became a spa with the Latin name Aquae Sulis ("the waters of Sul") c. 60 AD when the Romans built baths and a temple in the valley of the River Avon, although hot springs were known even before then.

A couple of years later the Romans started using the number CCCXXX1X to describe the chariot route between Bristol and Bath.:D
Indeed, aquae is the plural of aqua.

I've looked carefully at the new 271/272/273 timetable and it does say that the Devizes > Urchfont journeys are covered by service 270, however the 270 timetable is not on Faresaver's website.

It'll be interesting to see what will happen to the 87 and the Trowbridge > Keevil > Devizes services as the 270 will have some affect on them.

On Faresaver website “A new service 270 will operate between Devizes and Easterton which will provide connections with both the 272 to Melksham and Bath and the 33/x33 service to Calne and Chippenham. Details of this timetable will be published on our website shortly.”

However, given the layover in Devizes, suggest that the 270 will run off the 271-3 in similar fashion to now.

Bit confused as to why you’d think the 76/77/87 would be affected?

Of course in Twertonus on Avonus there's a pub called 'The Centurion' so perhaps that's where the Roman legions stopped off on the way to Bristolus.

If anyone wants a Saturday night treat, there's a B9 on the 42. If only permanently, it really is more comfortable than the gas Scanias.

i do wonder if the 270 will run off the back of the 33 / x33 as i beleve it does anyway on the outbound trip talks of deckers being used on the Bath - Devizes i would guess the drivers doing the 271/272/273 could then take breaks in Devizes while the other bus heads out and does the other bits maybe

The reason why I think the 76/77/87 would be affected is because they're infrequent but would they interchange with the 270 or could the odd journey run off the 76/77/87 and onto the new 270/271/272/273?

If I fancied the idea of going on a rural pub crawl to Easterton and Urchfont, I'd want to know if I'd make it back without getting stranded.

It’s both, the launch/photoshoot etc is Monday, entry into service is Wednesday.
Ah yes you’re right.
I’m still surprised these aren’t going on the Y2 which is far busier than the Y1...

Surely, the 76/77/87 being infrequent means they’re less likely to interwork with 270, rather than the 33 or 271-3?

I doubt many if any pub crawls are done around Urchfont and the Lavingtons, esp by bus! If it’s a pub crawl location, then Devizes is the place (and it’s good). Irrespective of the reason for travel, don’t we all want to know we can get back without being stranded.

There's definitely green ones there! Just hidden away..

Think I saw one on the M5 southbound this morning just north of Bristol. There was a couple of other Stagecoach Enviro’s following close behind returning south from Cheltenham races.

The Y1 is busy in peaks with standing pax from Hambrook on occasions especially the 065x from my stop, Pitchcombe, and m3 pax transfer to it if they see it waiting at the Willy Wicket traffic lights at the Hambrook stop which saves an appropriate 10 minutes on the journey to the city. The Y2 is hourly also.
