Tried to order some food for me and my mother, but found Sainsburys had no delivery slots available. What are people supposed to do if your on your own like me and need a bit of a stock up. This is a disgrace
I have the same problem with Sainsburys, and I have a pre paid six month delivery pass

The two we've got in the house are the kids' ones too. My wife wanted a fancy digital one, but I find the older hold-it-to-the-forehead-and-watch-the-segments-change-colour variety easier to use.
We've got an Omron 'stick it in the ear' type. It does seem a bit variable depending on the firing angle. Otherwise it's two £1 electronic ones (ironically, both made in China), or a classic glass type. All of those we've had for at least 4 years.

Managed to buy loo roll at Poundland yesterday. However, it was 10.30 and there were just 3 x 12 packs left on the shelf. (and no, I bought just 1 pack)...

I have to wear a mask at work now but even these are in short supply especially now the French supplier has cancelled the latest UK NHS order...:frown::frown::frown:

What am I bid for one barely-used toilet roll? One careful lady owner: buyer collects.
I’m getting low. I’ll give you a tenner for it if we can do the handover in Saltash...

Bought one in Morrisons for £3.30 Friday morning. Although it was branded "Paw Patrol."
In normal circumstances its usually the kiddy branded stuff thats more expensive.

Indeed. If you have it, you should self-quarantine, not wear a mask. If you don't, masks don't help and may be actively negative.
Although it was pointed out to me today that a mask may discourage people from touching their face which I believe is part of the government advice.

True, but hand sanitiser is handy (sorry) if you are out and about. Mrs C (who is a bit neurotic about such things at the best of times) keeps one in the car.

Very true for being out and about, it's better than nothing, I was more meaning being at home though.

IF you can avoid touching your face then not having hand sanitiser isn't such a problem.

Some may be intending to profit from such a situation later on. The ease of doing so via online selling has to be considered.

.
that might be a bit difficult in a real gone pear-shaped scenario where royal mail, dhl ,ups and so on are called up to deliver food and medicine instead of ebay parcels.

So you know how last month all the chat on social media was to “be kind”. I take it that’s gone out the window now - and it’s a case of last man (or woman :)) standing.

It was never "in the window" for some people; fact is there are some people who just aren't kind people! They do exist, though often you may not notice them, though it depends on what job you do...

Indeed. It would be useful to have some for being out and about.

First find a shop that still has any to sell .... What's the point of ministers etc encouraging us all to use it (and there really isn't any alternative "if you are out and about") when there's been none to be had for at least the last couple of weeks?

Because, I would have thought, that a not insignificant number of people will have their own already. Also, there are a number of (primarily public sector) premises that have dispensers of it.

The problem is that if you touch the mask and do have it on your hands it will stay there and you'll breathe it in. You'll also touch your face more to adjust it.

They are at best pointless, at worst actively bad. The reason South East Asians wear them is to protect others if you have a cold. If you have COVID19 you should be somewhere where you can't infect others anyway, so it's moot. Therefore they serve about as much purpose as 1,000 bog rolls.

That’s my view about the supermarket chains asking people nicely to desist panic buying. Seems some people nowadays don’t have a ‘better nature’ to appeal to :( . It won’t work if it isn’t enforced.

Most supermarkets seem to be strictly enforcing their own limits on buying multiples of products, it's just that the limits differ between supermarkets in terms of the number and indeed products which I imagine must be confusing some people.

Tesco in Cambridge were not permitting more than 2 tins of the same item this morning - most people in the queues were having items removed by the checkout staff.

It's been reliably reported that at our local Aldi - maximum 4 items per person - people at the checkout with bunches of 7 bananas were having 3 removed! Yet if you bought them prepackaged in a plastic wrapper you were allowed all 7 in the wrapper and (in theory) could buy 28 … go figure!

Just been to Poundland for multipack crisps for packed lunches. Not much left on the food shelves and a queue that went halfway round the store. It's seems a lot of panic buying is buying for the sake of it.

I see on the BBC website, they are saying they they have no plans for food ratioing , but surely after all the numpties have stocked their cupboards to bursting, the shops will be full of food / loo rolls again ? !
Then in 6 months they will be down the tip dumping out of date food !

So how many loo rolls can you buy? Four packs of 4? Four packs of 24?
