Hello all,

Bit of an odd question but when I was in my rail sim (Train Sim 2019) and one of the Class 444 pairings I was driving was 444001 and 444045, it occurred to me, though I've not usually paid much attention, I've never really noticed such a pairing in reality, one assumes it has happened? Such as 377401+377474, 377101+377164, 450001+450127 etc etc?

Or even for loco's, has there been a set with 43002+43198?

Yes, of course. If they are in the same fleet it is no more or less unlikely than any other pairing in the fleets you mention (although 377101 won't have worked with 377164 for a while since the latter went to Southeastern).

I have travelled 43002+LA61+43198 on 9 August 2014.

One of the contributors to the ukmodernemu group had every pairing of 365s for haulage on his commute.

I've seen 455801 & 455 846 before (the first/last of the Southern batch).
I've also seen 377401 & 377475 before (as you mention above).

Also vaguely recall seeing 375601 &375927 on my old commute to London once.

No doubt 377601 has worked with 377708 on a CatTat service at some-point

(CatTat - Caterham/Tattenham Corner)

If someone can arrange for D6700 and D6608 to work together, please let me know!

Good thread!
On my local patch ive seen 144001 paired with 144023. I wonder if 156401 has ever been paired up with 156514?

Certainly can happen anywhere where the first and last are part of the same fleet. Used to be the case on GN that one could and did get 365501 and 365541 working together. Someone else can work out the stats if need be!

I've had 150101 working with 150150, but not 150001 + 150285.

153301 + 153351 + 155347 would be a good one, the first and last Leyland SuperSprinter vehicles!

w.r.t. 365s there is a former Royston commuter crank who had EVERY possible combination of pairs of 365 during the course of his commuting. All on 8car trains, he did not contribute any pairing within 12car 365s into this achievement.

EDIT I just seen this is referred to back upthread, the ukmodernemugroup member mentioned.

I think I’ve had all but about five combinations of the original 458 build (i.e. 458001-030/501-530). Going back to the subject of this thread I have had 8001/30, 458501/530 and 458501/536 as combinations.

I remember seeing 50001 and 50050 paired up on an early Newton Abbot to Exeter working that used to bring a pair up from Laira.

Before, I've been on a 12 car 360 with

360101 (First 360/1)
360111
360121 (Last 360/1)

This was before the 360/2s were in service.

I’ve certainly worked 153301 + 155347 and 153351 + 155347 in the past but never with both 153’s (although I have worked 153301 + 153351 together too).

I once rescued 321901 with 321903!

Have had 172211 with 172222 (21/12/12)
Had an almost with 315802 and 315860! Also had 455801+455846, not sure this counts as obviously go on from there but numbered 5847?
An interesting question that's got me looking through my records, a few left to go.
As an aside did have two firsts 33101+8001, not what thread is asking but may be of interest.

I’ve definitely seen 357001 and 046 working together before for C2C. They’re they extremities of the 357/0 subclass, but I wonder if 001 has ever worked with 357328? I would guess that it has

It must happen with many current classes as often as any other pairings. Does anyone actually believe they would be rarer for some reason?
