Do LNER do the telephone interview before any of the psychometric testing such as group bourdon or have they already checked and accepted the psychometric test results from previous OPC tests?

Interview first and group assessments then the psychometric. Due to what’s going on in the world it looks like online interviews at the minute

I haven't done any previous OPC or psychometric tests before.

This does seem a bit odd... so we have to do 3 interviews, 3 online assessments and then the full assessment days? Seems like a lot!

I must admit the timing of the email surprised me, 8.46am during all this going on in the country and not an automated one as that would have came immediately on submitting the test. A part of me hoping it’s another system error :)
I applied again and did the tests again (nothing said you couldn’t). I just got a invite for a online interview.

I haven’t done the psychometrics yet. I am well happy, still a long way to go but it’s a huge stepping stone with the amount of applications

What kind of things should I expect in the interview? Never heard of interviews being done on the railway before the assessment days so not sure what to expect

Seeing people getting either rejection or interview requests today and waiting here with neither and going a little squirrely not knowing!

I've also booked in for a telephone interview for Monday. Good luck to all - hopefully some exciting times ahead but it's still early days!

Same, booked one for Monday but it won’t be a quick process, there’s 7 pages of dates for telephone interviews!

well I still haven't even received a VR invite so I'm not sure what to think. Don't know if its a system cock-up or I failed the three tests I already took (SJT and 2 Error Checking).

Hi guys

I also got my email to book an interview slot. Mine is on Tuesday.

I currently work for a different TOC as a conductor/train manager, but have interviewed for a driver previously. It was also a competancy based interview. Essentially, theyre going to ask you to provide an example of when you've demonstrated a certain skill. They're looking for you to talk them through the example, usually in the STAR format; Situation, Tasks, Actions and Result.

As far as LNER recruitment stages go, I'm unsure as this is the first time that I've applied with them. From what I can gather, the next stage would be a day of tasks and interviews. After that would be a full day of psychometric testing, usually done in Doncaster, and then if successful, a medical. A long way to go for sure, but to get this far is encouraging and the opportunity to sell yourself to an actual person, rather than jumping through the hoops of a faceless online test. Getting a job as a driver for any TOC is highly competitive, but LNER is a hugely desirable company to work for in general, so it's going to be tough, but ultimately worth it.

Anyone who did not get through this time, so be too downhearted. Have a look at other TOC's, as they're having an unprecedented recruitment drive in general. Northern are generally the best bet for driving as they tend to advertise for trainees more regularly than other TOC's.

Anyway, that's my input. Have a great weekend, and good luck to everyone who has their interview next week.

So this is just the MMI? Does you think this counts as the official MMI and after assessment days it will just be the DMI left to go? They are using an outsourced firm to conduct these interviews like TOCs usually do for the MMI...

Hi everyone, just found this thread as I was searching for possible heads up on the online interview as I recieved an email for it today. I'm was just wondering what to expect for the telephone interview but can't seem to find anything... maybe I'll prepare for it as if I'm doing my actual interview. Also for anyone wondering I completed 31 questions for the Error checking and completed VR tests with a few minutes to spare. Safe to say not the easiest of tests for an online application! Anyway, good luck to those that have their telephone interview!

No, this not the MMI and does NOT count as one of your lives for the opc tests. This is just a company interview to put you to the next stage

I have somehow managed to get a telephone interview, only got to 20 on the checking test. It was my first time doing anything of the sort, I didn't think that would be good enough after seeing the scores on here. Contrary to the general consensus, I thought the VR seemed fairly straight forward though.

Well done to all those with interviews lined up and good luck! Has anyone else like me completed all 3 online tests but not received any communication at all whether it be rejection or invitation to interview?

I am slightly confused as I have passed all the tests with another TOC. This sounds like an MMI? I also got an email for this telephone interview but confused to what stage this is.

I have a telephone interview too :) On a side note, does anyone know if the LNER psychometric test/MMI are done to the enhanced or standard level? Have already passed all of them to enhanced except for one test which was to standard level! Thank you
