We have an hourly service today on Colne to Blackpool South.

Why, when we are being told to stop non essential travel?

During the week it is two hourly.

I noticed this too. On weekdays, at the moment, it's a 2 hourly service.

Also I was surprised to see a 4 car 156 this afternoon. I can't remember the last time this line had 4 cars.

Yes, I've just realised we have an hourly service on the Todmorden curve today, which has been reduced to every three hours on the weekday emergency timetable. I wonder if it is simply that there has not been time to amend the Sunday timetables, in which case presumably next week will be at a reduced level. Or, possibly backing the key-worker theory, have they continued to run a greater number of trains as many bus services are particularly sparse (or non-existant) on Sundays?

To allow the passengers to spread out for social distancing

Today's train plan at Slaithwaite is the best we've ever had - 2tph to Manchester Piccadilly and 2tph to Huddersfield (one continues to Sheffield and the other to Leeds)!

It's all to do with weekend diversionary routes and the Key Worker Timetable. Quite frankly, for one day, it's probably more trouble than it's worth to start trying to make the emergency timetable and the amended engineering work timetable play nicely.

Today Northern have a normal Sunday Timetable, with a few exceptions. Next Sunday a key worker timetable with operate

It was because there was no time to get an amended Sunday timetable in place. It will be a 'key worker' timetable this Sunday.

This. There is a clear and loud instruction that what runs must not be shortformed from the very top to all TOCs.

Northern have been running many services shortformed this week. Considering the most pax I've had on any train I've worked is about 20 maintaining social distancing hasn't been a problem.
