Taking a shot at it -- I think I gather that this Leo-whatsit chap is some kind of actor Johnny; but my guess is that what he does for a living is irrelevant, and intended to put us off the scent. The clue is really about the switching-around of r's and n's. So I suggest -- what with these r's and n's: Arnside.
Ah, now his job is important. You are correct about that job.

It is not Arnside.

@FelixtheCat -- granted, I'm thick -- but please can you explain? I presume r- and n-switching has some relevance; or has it :s ?
Leonardo de Caprio is a famous actor, who often plays the main part - Main Actor.
Not gay, IE: straight. That's a line.
We get to Main Actor Line.
Swap them around and replace the 'r' for an 'n', and you get Acton Main Line.

I'm hitting a blank wall here. Once more (and again looking north-west) in order to submit something, anything -- I find self driven to outright silliness. The wantonly and voluntarily not-showing-up-for-work person, by acting this way, "burns" up their time and is "id[l]e": so the answer is BURNESIDE, on the Windermere branch and located on the River Kent :D.

Oh, yes; and I assume that nowadays Burneside has no loop or sidings; so it's "pointless".

No sorry, it’s much simpler than that: just an ordinary cryptic crossword clue. It’s only served by Northern Rail.

Deliberately miss work = Skive and then knock off the first "S" = Kive

Station in Kent = Tonbridge

Put those together, and you get Kiveton Bridge, on the line from Sheffield to Lincoln.

Next clue:-

A suitable location for a German travel company, provided they can make the necessary arrangements

36 hours gone by: I reckon, time for one of my silly ones, just to make it so that something's happening.

I'm going to say that it's Derriaghy. Something which is German: German for "the", is DER. "Necessary arrangements" indicates anagram-type doings: among things used for travel -- so, could belong to or be operated by a travel company -- a horse-drawn carriage; known in India as a "gharri". Possible alternative spelling GHAIRY; which rearranged and tacked on to DER, makes the "answer station" suggested by me above (on the Northern Ireland Railways' system, between Belfast and Lisburn). Simples !

No, it isn't Derriaghy, but you are right that the answer is an anagram.

The station in question is served by direct services from Birmingham New Street and London Paddington.

I could also reword the clue as Suitable location for a German travel organisation.

Yes it is Great Malvern, being an anagram of German Travel.

Your turn.

Thanks.

Sounds a bit like: game of cards hosted by improvident aged dog owner.
