I assumed we weren't using Covid-19 timetables, because there wasn't an update in the OP. Perhaps one would be a good idea?

We have, it's been discussed plenty of times. To be fair, I don't think it's a good idea, because the timetables are very sketchy. I personally think it would have been better to stick to the original timetables, especially as this is an entirely fictional game!

As discussed though it can be quite difficult to find the original timetables at the moment.

Honestly, it's often easier to find the original timetables than it is to universally find the temporary runs, plus this IS a fictional game after all. And some people will have the right train timetables downloaded, so we can always share the links and access them that way. I just feel like that's more sensible – and easier – personally.

Whatever we ARE doing, though, we need to have in the OP!

Let's decide then. I use journey planners for this game, so if we're using original timetables then that will count me out until things return to normal, so as long as I know!

One of the principles of this game, as I understand it, is to use current timetables for the week we are in. It doesn't seem right to abandon that - and if we do, when we get towards the end of the crisis we will be using timetables that are months out of date. And at what point do we switch back to reality? The crisis won't have a sudden end and things go back to how they were - bus and train services will gradually increase again on a patchy basis. For me there is no choice - let's stick with the Covid timetables. It may be more difficult and we will get it wrong sometimes - but that doesn't really matter.

Have to agree here - as this goes on for longer, it'll become more difficult to use original timetables to the point where getting the Covid timetables will be easier anyway, even if services aren't as frequent.

With that said, considering the first train doesn't leave until 08:00, we walk to St Andrews Square as the sun rises to board the 06:35 Stagecoach East Scotland service X55 to Dunfermline (Bus Station), arriving for 07:32 on Sunday morning.

I have to agree, which is the conclusion the various discussions have come to recently. I think as long as we can provide evidence that the move has a timetable available to the public if challenged then that should be sufficient. As part of another quiz yesterday I was trying to find a pre Covid Key Worker TPE timetable with no success. .

Next we take the 0805 Stagecoach East Scotland service 7 to Inverkeithing, Boreland Road arriving there at 0831 on Sunday morning.

To be fair, it wouldn't really matter if the timetables may be out of date because it all goes back to this game being fictional, but it just the sketchiness of them that can be an issue. Every single COVID-19 timetable I've used has only listed main stops and it's difficult to plan exact moves because journey planners haven't yet uploaded all journeys in accordance with these new timetables. Happy to continue using the COVID timetables - but we may just have to show a bit of leniency and it may not be 100% accurate (e.g. arrival/departure times from intermediate bus stops may be 'circa', as they're not listed).

Next we take the 0805 Stagecoach East Scotland service 7 to Inverkeithing, Boreland Road arriving there at 0831 on Sunday morning.

Seeing as Real Time Trains has all of the amended services, I have no doubt of taking the four minute walk to Inverkeithing station and boarding the 0952 ScotRail service 2L50 to South Gyle, arriving there at 1010 on Sunday morning.

I think a lit of the sketchy info is down to the bus companies (in particular) having to produce schedules and files at such short notice. It may be that in the coming days things get updated. There may also be delays in getting things uploaded.

We take the 1048 Scotrail service to Edinburgh Waverley arriving at 1101 on Sunday.

Whilst the Arriva Midlands A service usually runs through the night, it currently isn't doing so. Instead we wait until the first departure at 0530 (a timetable I devised!) to Dunstable, Jean's Way arriving at 0550 on Monday morning.
Interestingly the intermediate stop times are shown on this temporary timetable so the level of information is definitely depending on operator.
