For those unaware a fundraising page on Facebook has been created to help save one of the units, I strongly recommend joining if your a fan, “class 315 preservation society”

A whole unit? Good luck in acquiring one coach, let alone three or four. Not to mention transport and storage.

The committee sound like they have a strong plan, I can’t comment much as I’m not directly involved, but sounds promising

Sounds all very last minute, knee-jerk reaction, to me.

I'll miss 315809 as it had a cracking turn of speed. It was wasted on the West Anglia slows in its final years.

Rail Operations Group's 37800 made a light engine move from "Leicester L.I.P." to "Ilford E.M.U.D." this morning:
https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/R04441/2020-04-07/detailed

Is related to class 315 scrap movements?

I see two possible return paths later today, but only as far as "Wembley H.S.":

https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/Y11014/2020-04-07/detailed

also wondered today, at work 37800 flew by, I later checked to see it was Ilford bound! glad you asked

My impression from searches on RailUK Forums and the wider Internet is that Worksop is used to store Class 345 and Class 710 trains and a few examples of off-lease trains that may be reused such as ex-LNER Mark 4 stock. I think the Class 315s are destined for scrap, so wouldn't fit with the profile of other trains stored at Worksop.

Neither of the possible return paths I posted yesterday were used according to Realtime Trains.

315816 is on its way to Booths this morning, presumably that'll be its last journey.

Will have to assume that 315809 will be the next one to make its last journey. Isn’t there a 317 stored with it at Wembley too?

315809 was moved to Wolverton Works from Wembley on the 02/04/20 but I don't know the reason for that move.

Pre-covid the ones going to Wolverton were being taken by the ROSCO for overhaul and presumably then a new user. Whether anticpated future lower loadings have now kybohsed that I don't know.

I was travelling past Wembley freight depot and I am sure I saw a class 315 overground amongst the freights or did I imagine this ? I wonder where most of them have gone? To be scrapped ? Warm storage ? Or sold on ...

Should just be 317s, all off lease so as ROSCO wishes.

315's noted last month (April) are just 806,822,831,836 working and 803,808,810,811 plus 317714,723 in Chingford EMU Sidings.
I believe the reduced hourly service just requires six two car units. Most of last week 831+836 along with 710103+105 & 119+120 were working the Southbury trains. The units repeat every three hours, working alternatively to Cheshunt then Chingford. I assume the Enfield Town's are similar thus providing a 30 minute service to Chingford.
In addition to the above 710108+121 and 123+129 have been noted in service this month. The changover is gathering pace.

Correct current timetable only requires 12 units, 4 of which are 710s. There are 10 710s available soon to be 12... They usually rotate from ilford. No 317s left at all now either.
