Same in Nottingham, all Orange 35s were empty along with Locallinks. I only saw an Orange 36 with one passenger

Trent Barton have temporarily eased concessionary pass restrictions

concessionary passes

Whilst we recognise these are challenging times, we know people rely on our services to get to school, college and work but we also provide a vital lifeline for the elderly and vulnerable customers. So, in response to some supermarkets and banks making special arrangements for exclusive access to food and services, we have decided to temporarily allow concessionary travel before 9.30am.

Nottingham City Transport details are online for changes from from tomorrow. Core routes only running: https://www.nctx.co.uk/special-timetables-wednesday-25th-march-2020 - this will lead a lot of elderly people - especially in hilly areas - with no lifeline to the shops eg on the Plains Estate etc. Surely some sort of basic hourly daytime shopping facility could have been offered on a few more routes?

Marshalls of Sutton on Trent and Travel Wright are ceasing all services.

Lot of flack over withdrawal of 53 to hospitals. No buses for Clifton (except the 1 starting at 8am) leaving residents with just the Tram (first one 6am - no use for workers NHS etc who need to start work at 6am.....

Few more buses from next Sunday https://twitter.com/NCT_Buses/status/1242866673889271813

Our special timetables started today, but hands up, there were some bits we didn't get right. We will be making some changes from Sunday 5th April: Earlier buses on the 1, 35, 79; the 48X for Clifton, key 53 am journeys and 35 going to/from Bulwell. https://nctx.co.uk/changes-our-special-timetables-following-feedback

Trent Barton Service Reductions.

From my observations on living next to two Sixes routes, every one passing here is empty, not seen a passenger travelling today.

Vince

Travelling back on my bike yesterday teatime I noticed empty rainbow 1s. eg the 415pm Nottingham to Alfreton via Selston had just one passenger on as it passed through Nuthall - these journeys are usually full at that time of day.

The biggest issue is for those villages left with no service where residents have no car and are effectively left stranded with no access to supermarkets in neighbouring towns.

There is hardly anybody at all on buses, anywhere outside the biggest cities. I'm not sure that residents are likely to be left stranded when they don't appear to be travelling anywhere. Presumably they are getting friends to help.

Passed two villagers on the way to the shops at Lunch and both had the grand total of 0 passengers on.

Looking at the list there looks to be a few routes which will have no Monday to Saturday service but does have a Sunday service like the allestree and the swift.

Some pretty savage cuts there from TB but only to be expected.

This afternoon I took my daily exercise along Chester Green in Derby and saw the following services going outwards;

2 x H1s, a 9:3, an Amberline, a Comet and a 6X. The Amberline and the 6X had one passenger each, the others had none.

I couldn't help thinking about Yourbus carrying nothing but fresh air around and look what happened to them!

CT4N coming in for some flak after one of their drivers dies:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-52118260
A community bus firm has been accused of not caring for its staff after the death of a driver who had been self-isolating with coronavirus symptoms.

The man, who worked for CT4N in Nottingham, died at the weekend after becoming unwell on 25 March, five days after starting annual leave.

Found this on coach and bus weekly. Seems Ipswich Buses purchased 3x 67 plates and 3x 64 plate Citaros

I'm not surprised that the Citaros are being disposed but despite their reliability issues, they could've displaced some Kinch Solars.

With 5 of them unaccounted for, it could be that Kinchbus are keeping them for route 9, though I doubt they’d do that really. Makes sense to just get rid of them altogether if they’re proving unreliable

The Sunday timetables are now online for most routes.
The rainbow 1 now starts 2 hours EARLIER on Sunday mornings - I have lived on the route 34 years and the earliest we could get into Nottingham was 8.30am in 1985, its been 8.55am for years, now its 6.35am (then to QMC) & a return at 7a.m. Why is it suddenly worthwhile when it never ever has been before?

According to the listings both the Rainbow One & Skylink Derby are reduced to hourly from Monday. Timetable shows half hourly still on Rainbow One though.......

My observations in central Derby are that TrentBarton's already severely reduced services are carrying hardly any passengers at all.

It can't be sustainable for any length of time, unfortunately.

Maximum loading on any Rainbow 1 I've seen in Nuthall or Kimberley has been 5. Most only have 2 people on and that's with a half hourly frequency....

There was myself and one other on The Villager this afternoon. A Mickleover had two on. Surpringly, a nines came in with five or six on and had a similar amount to board. Not really sustainable, though.

Heard on the news this morning that the government will be paying bus companies to keep services running. A level of about 50% of normal service was mentioned and drivers would be expected (not sure how!) to keep passenger numbers below 50% of capacity.

That is a good loading for the villager at the moment! What helps the villager is the hospital in Derby as quite a few people from the village's use it but I don't think the random Sunday timetable will help much with random gaps of 90 to 180 minutes.

Nottingham City Transport have declared the majority of the fleet 'off road' with the special limited timetable being run only from the Parliament Street garage. A number of Unilink 4 omnidekkas seem to be parked at Trent Bridge to facilitate this. As a result the 1, 26 and 49 are operating with standard buses so no change is available from the driver with the 49 also not serving Queens Drive P&R (which does remain open and is being served by CT4N's medilink).
The members of the double deck fleet currently being used are mainly silver spare omnidekkas and E400s (with only 2 or 3 silver biogas Citys out) as well as orange 35 E400s (working the 35 and 36) and red 43 branded E400s (working the 43 and 44 which currently interwork). 500 is also out and about, having unusually spent the day on the 1 to Loughborough the other day. For single deckers I've seen Blue (39) 397 on the 39 and silver spare 399 on the 41 but I'm not sure what other single deckers are being used.

Trent Barton seem to be doing pretty well at keeping their branded buses on the correct route still

Surprised to see the Rainbow 1 due Nottingham 15.25 today was a red bus, I would have thought that with running a half hourly schedule they would have had plenty of blue Rainbow 1s available! (They aren't interworking the R1 with anything else).

Maybe its just to keep them in service and running or applying a 1 bus, 1 driver strategy? The one V3 and Royal that i passed this morning had around 2 passengers on between them.

I boarded the R1 at lunchtime at Nuthall, it had 2 passengers on and gained 2 more at Larkfield. When I alighted at Kimberley 2 more boarded. The only bus stop queues I have seen, repeatedly, are for the 27 in Kimberley - in both directions - I couldn't work out today where the 27 queue ended and where the Wilko queue ended!

Before the current climate, the 27 seemed to be rammed or empty.

I note that Stagecoach issued new coronavirus timetables effective from today. The X1 is withdrawn with various other services merged (eg 27-9 at Mansfield, 29,46,47,99 & 42,43,46,47 at Retford) or axed (eg 7 at Worksop). Interestingly Kirklington is now served every 2 hours by the 28 - before it was served twice weekly by Travel Wrights 227!

CT4N have withdrawn all their services so Nottingham City Transport are temporarily operating Medilink along the same route between City Hospital and QMC. Hulleys are operating the 14 and 29.

This is after one of the CT4N drivers died from Covid. The NCT Medilink replacement is using double deckers, apparently to increase social distancing. Obviously they have plenty spare at present.
