With the announcement that Heathrow Terminal 4 is to close. Would this mean that rail services that currently serve terminal 4 being diverted to terminal 5?

ondon's Heathrow Airport will temporarily close Terminal 3 and Terminal 4, in response to vastly reduced flights and passenger numbers as the coronavirus looks to settle in for an extended stay.

"Heathrow will take steps to reorganise and shrink our operation to remain open throughout this crisis," the airport said says, describing the Covid-19 pandemic as "a seismic challenge for the global aviation industry."

Both T3 and T4 will close later this month, although an exact date has yet to be set, with the remaining airlines using those terminals re-assigned across T2 and T5 "alongside the airlines that already operate there."

"Our teams are working closely with our airline and other partners to ensure this move is as smooth and efficient and possible and we will provide clear guidance to passengers on this webpage, our app and our social media channels."

Without any passengers or traffic, T3 and T4 are expected to then be used to park grounded aircraft.

As previously reported, British Airways has already moved out of Terminal 3 – which hosted many flights into Europe, with a handful of longer-range routes to the US and South Africa – and now operates exclusively out of Heathrow Terminal 5.

More to follow...

T4 closing I suspect won't have any impact in all reality.
T5 is more of a hub for Tube/train & coach along with Buses that go to T4 also start/terminate at T5.

T3 passengers use same Bus/train interchange as T2 so should be ok.

In terms of the train I'd presume it's been thinned out due to a massive drop in passenger flights(not checked the schedule)so either run a Heathrow Express all stations ex T5 or run the TFL train to T4 as now for driver to change ends and run as now(passengers from T5 catch Heathrow Express change at T2/3 station for TFL stopping train forward for intermediate stations)

If trains were running to T4, even as empties, things like emergency exits from the station (and intermediate shafts) would still need to be usable.

There is capacity to run the TfL rails to terminal 5 and the drivers are trained to go there .it might be better to run them to terminal 5 in passenger service. TfL rail is running it's it's original frequency to Heathrow central but the terminal 4 shuttle no longer runs

Heathrow Express trains are only running half hourly anyway, the number of passengers must be minuscule, I assume that few airport workers take the HEx to the airport

8th May T4 stations gonna be closed, TfL Rail diverted to T5.
Terminal 4 closes around then. T3 is closed already, I'm slightly surprised they didn't shut T4 first, seeing that it is separate from the rest of the airport, whereas T3 is next to T2

Probably to do with the nature of the airlines that use Terminal 4.
