There are 8 none technical skills at Network Rail :-

Conscientiousness – the ability to work diligently, with a positive attitude and be willing to take responsibility for their own actions.
Relationships with People – the ability to work with others in the team in a positive, respectful and supportive manner; providing support and help when needed and managing conflict when required.
Communications – the ability to communicate both verbally and in written format clearly and concisely and to stand your ground as necessary.
Willingness and Ability to Learn – the ability and motivation to be trained, retain information, apply it in the work environment and learn and develop on the job.
Planning and Decision Making – the ability to anticipate, plan and prioritise activities.
Multi Task Capacity – the ability to successfully carry out more than one task at a time.
Controlled Under Pressure – the ability to cope in emergency or degraded situations.
Attention Management – the ability to remain alert and focussed, to manage distractions, and keep an awareness of the overall situation.
Does anyone have a digital copy of the 8 non-technical skills they could forward me please? I have a phone image of them but the quality is not the best.
I have tried the links earlier on in this thread and the links don't seem to be working any more.

Thanks

Thanks Paul, that's brilliant.
That was in this thread, I would advise reading through the entire thing in preparation for any application regarding a signalling vacancy there is also a search function that you can specify only searching this particular thread.

I’ve applied for a future opportunities position for north and eastern routes and the process seems different to the normal current one ie application accepted, invite to test (SJT, VR, NR), interview...
Having had my application accepted, I’ve had an email outlining the process which refers to a virtual online assessment and video interview. Does anyone know if these ‘virtual online assessments’ will be the SJT, VR, NR? Or will it be something different? The advert doesn’t refer to SJT, VR, NR. I understand the current assessments have only been in place for a couple of years and you previously had to go to an assessment centre to do tests such as a lift sound test, fault finding, along with others and group exercises. I’m wondering if they’re planning on doing something similar to the old style assessment centre testing for this recruitment?

No, it won't be a return to the old assessment center, if you read back a couple of pages the process has been changed temporarily due to the COVID-19 outbreak. I'd expect it to go back to the old method once the world returns to normality. I would expect the online assessment is the SHL tests, or a new cut down short questions and answers on what you know about the job and your work experience.

Please do post your experience of the process stages on here to help other people out.

Ok, thanks. It just got me thinking because the email from HR mentions they will send instructions about the online assessment closer to the time. Yeah I'll post my experience.

Has anybody heard back from NR re their applications for Rugby, Westbury, Tondu or Abercynon? Been sat at 'test completed' for a while now but understand that things may well go slower than usual with what is going on!

What schools are doing courses at the moment? Are they still going ahead currently or are they on a break?

Anyone applied for the signaller grade 2 posts in Cumbria/Lancs?

And any ideas what shifts/rosters are like for Carnforth/Appleby?

Hey guys, quick question, if a signaller recently gets another job in a higher grade, and has accepted offer etc, but cant move to the higher grade bcos of Covid 19 issues for example Loms not releasing staff bcos theyre struggling or wanting to hold on to staff just incase some need to self isolate etc, and in any case the signallers in the higher grade positon you just got are not willing to accept trainees for obvious reasons. Does the 3 month rule (where you start earning the grade even if youre still in your lower grade position ) still apply? Or has Covid 19 changed the dynamics of the whole thing, which would be understandable anyway.

Hi
I hope you don’t mind me asking, but with the new/temporary application, what were the questions that they asked, just out of curiosity? Having done the 70 questions before for an application it’s interesting to know how they have slimmed it down. Cheers.

12hr roster currently worked in York. Hope this helps. Its just a glimpse of the first 6 weeks, but the roster is averaged out over 24 weeks.
Hi WestRiding, this would be really helpful as my overall aim is to get a role at York, however I can’t open the attachment. It just takes me to an error page, is there anyway you could repost or send it in a private message? Many thanks!

Hi - would anyone know the exact location of the Crossing Keeper job posted in Didcot? Wondering if it is central Didcot or on the fringes/in the country so you would definitely need a car...

Many Thx!

Cheers for reply. I thought they had a condensed application in place during Coronavirus with a shorter set of questions?

I have applied for a few positions recently, the only one that had a different application process is the Grade 2 future vacancies for the eastern region. This had 6 questions instead of the usual 69. I think that this maybe because the recruitment for these roles is being done centrally as the code is HR Resourcing (348440) G5. There was a discussion about these a couple of pages back but this looks like it is HR. I may be a bit off the mark, but that is my hunch.

Hi - sorry for newbie question but could you briefly explain the codes please? And the subtle difference between some of them which seem like they would have a similar meaning, like OFF and RD for example

OFF
RD
SP
<empty box>
12
N
E
OD

Off = Sunday off (outside the working week)
RD = rest day (inside the working week)

The working week is defined as Monday to Saturday.

SP = spare (shift with nothing allocated)
12 = 12 hour shift
N = nights shift
E = Early shift
OD = operations Development day? (If so then on our roster they are called “briefing days”, when we used to have four a year)

The original post said 12 hour shift for York, so I'm still confused between the 12, N and E or is early shift just the other shift to nights (days?)

Some people and rosters show 12hrs days as 12hr earlies. There is no defined language for rosters although most use the same or similar. Rosters and the terms used by them are as varied as the areas and locations covered, depending on how each location/area negotiated it’s roster at a local level.

Id call them days, and nights but others call them early and late turn.

Apologies. My last post was sent by accident.

As Dave mentioned there were 6 questions on the future role application and were on the lines of 'Why do you want to work for NR?'

Thanks! What is SP = spare (shift with nothing allocated)? Do you work these shifts or not? Sorry, confused...
