Hi

I received an email from GTR saying my application had passed the initial sift. The email was an invite to complete online testing, does anyone know what this online testing is? is it the stage 1 testing or something different? I have passed all stage 1 and 2 testing already, i would not want to jeopardize those results with a half arsed attempt to complete the tests on my poxy laptop and rubbish internet connection.

Can anyone shed any light on this? cheers

Well done in getting through. I can't remember how the test go exactly (mine were done in September time) and I had the same thoughts as you having already passed the assessments prior to this application. I know there are a group bourdon type test (my advice is use the group bourdon tool from here and install to PC, that will help massively to practice doing it on the PC rather than the paper what we are used to).

These will not affect your results, these are another way of sifting through candidates.

Sorry can't help much for than that.

Apparently its a questionaire most applicants completed before their dmi and wether you pass or fail it won’t affect your previous results

My bad, I had to do a bourdon test and questionnaire as well. Know what you're talking about now. I remember the questionnaire being the Hogan personality one. Sorry for confusing things there!

Yeah as you said, it won't affect your results. When answering, try to be yourself but also look out for the most safety related answers in there.

Thanks guys really helpful.

I completed the online tests and just received an email stating that I had passed and invited to take the next online tests, scaat tests this time.

sorry to bore you but again, will this set of tests affect my stage 1, 2 and MMi pass results at all?

I’m reluctant to take any tests that might be detrimental to a talent pool place I have with another toc.

cheers

If you retake a test you have already passed your new score will replace the previous one.

It was asked and we were warned about this when I attended Arriva for tests as some had standard passes with other tocs but Arriva wanted advanced levels ... the assessor said if in doubt about yr existing scores then don’t retake them ...

Then whilst awaiting part 2 testing at the opc I then took an online test with freight liner at home on my laptop which I failed .... Arriva then dropped me from st2. I contacted Arriva as I thought that at home tests wouldn’t count as there’s no real control over them ... I could have easily cheated it to be honest.

But it basically killed off both applications.

The test I took online for freightliner was one of the ones I would have took at the st2 assessment centre for Arriva .... as it was a fail it can’t be retaken for 6 months ....to my mind if the tests are that critical they should only be performed at the centre in controlled conditions and with everyone using the same equipment.... inconsistency aside as I say I think it would have been easy to cheat it at home had I been that way inclined

well that’s why then! Because it was a stage two test. Never heard of stage testing being done online, if that was failed the. That’s one of the two strikes and couldn’t be re sat for 6 months

Stage 2 is situational judgement and a moving a ball around a course with hand controls test and a test to acknowledge a difference in the colour of a square. Not tests that can be done at home. Are you sure ?

I was waiting for the st2 invite when I saw people on here being notified of theirs ... so I contacted Arriva to chase up ... they checked with the OPC and they said as I’d taken and failed the VSE at home for freightliner then they wouldn’t continue with my application and dropped me out of st2

I’m guessing the mini scaat test doesn’t affect our existing scores or lives with the OPC?

I was also invited to do the online testing. I’m nervous as I don’t know what to expect. I emailed the recruiter to ask what does it consist of so I know how to prepare but I didn’t get a reply . Just wandering if I should prepare verbal reasoning, numerical tests..I’m rubbish at those. What is stag 1 and 2? Can you please help?

I did got an email from the recruiting team and she did express that it was purely for there application sifting and that no other TOC would see it.
I decided to drop out and not take the tests anyway as I don’t want to affect my talent pool place with another TOC.
Stage1 and 2 are the tests you take after successful at application stage

I get that. I’m interested for the pool myself, rather , but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to go through the motion :) . At least if I have to do the tests again I know what to expect.
