Given the subject matter I'm honestly not sure which forum this belongs in. Mods please move me around.

I just noted again as I drove up the Blue Mountains here in NSW, that the line reminds me of Woodhead. 1500vDC, 1950s catenary, rusting in places and a a lot of stanchions standing guard over trackless ballast. However this is still a key artery. Anyone else note a similarity?

I must admit, the catenary structures look remarkably like the ones which were put up on the Woodhead route (and which remain on the approaches to Manchester Piccadilly today).

Does the line have a big tunnel though ?

Yes, thanks for posting these most interesting shots, no doubt it's a go to place for if/when you are a little homesick for BR @Greetlander? :)
To be honest it’s probably a better place for Woodhead lovers to come if they’re feeling nostalgic. That being said I’m no big fan of Australian railways - once you’re outside the immediate metropolitan centres, it’s a poor provision.

Could well have been the same suppliers in the 1930's e.g. BICC for cabling and MetropolitanVickers for switchgear.
