Great to hear from you Aimeelou & Rooney, I am also on the 11th May induction.
What depots you both applied for?

Well done those starting at Norwich in May. I started as a depot driver at Crown Point in January. You'll love it. The training is well structured and you'll be surprised how much you learn so quickly. Any help or questions from my point of view I'll be happy to help with.

Hi Guys,

I want to become a train driver. I passed all my psychometrics for the driver position. However, I have never worked in the industry.

I was wondering what jobs did you all do before you got the position of train driver?

Hi Aftv49

Firstly, well done for passing the psychometrics!

I too have never worked in the rail industry but it is something that has always been of interest. I work in child protection at the moment so the change of career is going to be completely different for me but I am looking forward to it :).

I have seen quite a few people on this forum who have decided to change careers!

Hi

I know GA likes to take a mix of people who work in the rail industry already and external candidates. People from outside come from a huge variety of roles and this helps bring in fresh ideas.

I myself worked as a postman for over 20 years and I have found the transition really easy as the railway has a great bunch of people working there.

All the best with it mate

Yea 10 seems to be the average amount. This is the size of the group for training at Stratford and not your individual depot. During the latest mod 4 done at Norwich there were only 2

Hi all.

Just thought I'd pop in and say hello, I applied for the trainee driver role back in April (2019) and have just been given an assessment date for 18th June.

It was definitely a surprise!

This is an amazing thread so thanks to all the contributors.

Saw this thread and thought I'd stop by and have a look as I applied for this last spring too and had largely forgotten about it until going through my emails the other day. I completed the online assessment at the time and never heard back so interesting to hear that they're still getting in touch with people. Fingers crossed!

Just received a email informing me that the online assessment I did back in 2019 when job was first advertised has passed its validity, but need to take it again to be considered for the next stages of the recruitment.

Thankfully I got a start date elsewhere. Hopefully the rest of you still waiting will hear some news soon.

Ditto! It really took me by surprise as I assumed that this application was dead and buried having not heard anything for the best part of two years. Is it more likely that it's an automated message or are they still working through the applicants from last time?
