That's interesting - means that all down Corby trains stopping at Wellingborough will use the down fast platform. Because of the cant (away f
The software on a 350/1 and /3 knew there was a 100mph max unit in the consist so limited the whole consist to 100.
When the 350/2s were changed to 110 though the same is done as with the 360s; the mods were done but the unit was left at 100max then when the last ones were done they were all 110 enabled one day all together.

Thank you for the explanation. I didn't intend to imply that, if a /2 was behind a /1 110mph might be attempted, but I was unsure how the speed was restrained to 100. A driver did tell me that the 100 limit was applied in that situation, but not sure how.

Training enough GBRf drivers on 360s to make these services wouldn't be too hard, I suspect the issue would be getting them cleared (electrically) along the North London Line - a lot easier and cheaper to stick the 47s on them

Isn't driver training currently very difficult due to social distancing?

True. I had always been under the (probably wrong!) impression that FOC driver training seemed to have a lot less situations that'd require instructor + driver in the cab compared to most TOCs. I certainly get the impression from the sheer variety of trains that have been moved by FOCs in recent years that they're able to drive stock on ECS moves like this without much hassle.

They may have drivers with route knowledge (in fact they must do to drive the hauling locomotives) but not traction knowledge.

47749 & 47727 have just arrived at Northampton on the 0Z59, so there is indeed a chance that 360107 is going back to Ilford later.
Can confirm this is the case. Both seen with 360107 in the middle.

When are the 360's expected to leave Anglia at the earliest?

I can imagine after the first few 720s enter service, although with the pandemic impacting the MML electrification I don’t think there’s a pressing need for them at EMR anytime soon.

When does the GA lease officially finish? And when does EMR's lease start?
The 720's look set to start Southend services first - which cascades 321's that can take over from the 360's on Ipswich/Harwich and Clacton services.
Sadly the even the 360's are starting to look very tatty and dirty inside now. The GEML timetable is based on Class 321 timings anyway.

The Greater Anglia franchise agreement says they are on lease to GA to 31 August 2020. It would be expected that the EMR lease would start on 1st September, but the sets may be sub-leased back to Greater Anglia depending on when EMR need them. There is an argument that EMR ought to start the refurb programme so that there are completed sets ready for the new service starting.

It's pushed everything back 6 months (ie, first service May 2021) but they still need to carry out driver/fitter training on the units before they can run them

They’ve been tatty and dirty the past year and a half, they’ve let them go. The tragedy is that the 360s never reached their potential on the GE, the awful, dated, uncomfortable, garden shed built 321s held them back.

Not to mention FGE’s graffiti-proof paint applied when built by Siemens which made repainting them a challenge...

They were originally going to run 'fast' Liverpool Street to Ipswich services with a single stop at Colchester IIRC. Now they are used primarily on 'slow' Liverpool Street to Ipswich Stoppers, and Semi fast Liverpool Street to Clacton services.

If you type in 'class 360 graffiti' on flickr it makes you wonder if that's all a myth that everyone believed.

The most common kinds of graffiti used by vandals doesn't work very well on the 360s, but there are some kinds that do attach.

Early in the 'one' days in the company saw someone trying to graffiti a 360 once and was caught on camera doing so and failing miserably to get it work as well as it did on a 321 they did around the same time, much to the laughter of those who saw it.

If they were simple to paint on top of, somebody would have repainted one by now.
