I’ve just noticed they have reduced the closing date from 09/07/20 to 06/07/20, hopefully we shall start to hear something soon. Good luck everyone.

I find this odd, normally they just take it down, I’ve never seen them change the date of closing. I know they would have had a lot of applications, but does this say they have not had the normal amount expected and it’s been quiet last few days. Our Fire service recently recruited post covid outbreak and they have not had an interest for jobs like normal. I wonder ?

...I'm about 15mins out of the 60min radius according to Google maps ... Only found this forum after I had submitted the application!!

Is it going to be a quick case of 'rejected application' because of this?

The furthest 1 of our group commutes is 30 miles/55 min. For me it's 20 miles/40 min. But in a bad rush hour that could creep up to 1 hour. Some parts of training were done in Northampton and the odd sim day in Brum. So effectively a commute to Bletchley followed by a train journey on top of that.

A rejection is likely but not a certainty. If you live to the north of Bletchley, you may still be within 60 mins of Northampton, the satellite driver depot. It's not unheard of for newer drivers to be based there, although less common.

Maybe people are choosing stability over opportunity in these uncertain times?

I've received a link for SJT assessment but the link isn't working - is anyone else having the same issue? It just keeps opening the same page in a new tab

Got an email from them saying that they’re having problems with the link and they’re working to fix it. I’ve not attempted mine yet

Brilliant, I've just had that email too, although after I'd already contacted WM Recruitment Team - oops

Having been through the testing process twice, and interviewed by 2 different TOCs, I can say it is tough but don't give up
I'm going through driver training with WMT. If anyone has questions about applying, testing, training, and/or Bletchley depot specific, just pop me a message and I'll do my best to answer.. Since lockdown, I've had route learning DVDs and my rules to revise, but still spare time on my hands. Hopefully I can be of some help. Good luck to all!

Hi mate, just a quick question as I’m new to all this? I Have had my application accepted for WMR talent pool and I have now received and email saying I need to take an online assessment, could you give me a heads up as to what this involves? As I don’t want to go into it blind and fail at the first hurdle! Any help or advice will be appreciated. Cheers

Hi guys, does anyone have any advice on what the SJT is and what it involves. I’ve just received an email saying my application was successful and I need to take the online assessment. Any advice or insight would be really appreciated! Thanks

I can’t really give you advise as such because there’s no right or wrong answer. It should be a paragraph of text with 4 answers A-D you simply have to put them in order of most likely to least likely....well that’s what the last SJT consisted of for me. Hope this helps a little.

Thanks for the advice! I’ve been told that if I fail this assessment I may not be able to take another SJT with any other TOC for at least 6months is this true? Or would that Only apply if I was taking it with the same TOC?

This will be the internal SJT. It usually consists as @Sal79 said of a 4 way multiple choice. 15-20 questions. It will be hypothetical driver scenarios. They're looking to see how well you follow rules, stand your ground, be responsible, delegate tasks, prioritise time, preparedness. As I said earlier in the thread, I was railway customer service, and had to forget that. They're looking for what a driver does, not what station staff do!

As for reapplying, I'd say that refers to the TOC, not all of them.

I sat a SJT with the OPC recently, do you think this is an internal one or will my pass with the OPC be ok? Thanks S-Car-Go

I always thought it would only be affected if you sat stage 1 or 2 again as that would over ride your results for better or worse.
I can't see how SJTs or questionnaires sat at home could have an impact especially as it isn't exam conditions

Well I haven't seen this year's applications, but it sounds the same format as last year. The SJT was internal, and Abellio sent a link to shl.com (online assessor) to take the assessment. OPC tests or not, it doesn't matter. You have to pass this first.

Thank you, I’ll do that tonight then.

I’ve received four emails so far. Two yesterday early lunchtime, another later in the afternoon stating the recruitment team are aware of problems with the link and so I decided to wait until today to complete mine. Upon checking my emails this morning I had received another very late last night of which I assume is the new repaired link for my test. Anybody that has already completed the test could you tell me if there is a timer for this test, how many questions there are and also does it allow you to go back over your answers to make any alterations if necessary.

For anyone who has completed the SJT online assessment, have you had your results yet? When i submitted my final answer it said something along the lines of "You will hear from us shortly" and this was yesterday evevning. Does anyone know how long it usually takes for us to find out if we have passed or not?

From taking internal tests with other TOCs, I've found you normally hear quite soon afterwards if you didn't pass it. I would say no news is good news at this stage?

Hey, I took the test last night and got the same response as you and I just checked it was marked as completed. Im afraid I don't know how long they take to get back regarding the results.

This is great to read from
Someone having got through the process ... thanks for sharing your experiences. I’ve just applied Bletchley after missing out on EMT Talent pool last year when they were recruiting. Was gutted, and these are so few are far between that vacancies arise you can’t help put yourself under pressure. How are you finding the training etc ?

Hey, yeah im the same, this forum has been great for info and knowing other folk are in the same boat. The assessment is very straightforward, 1 question with 3 possible answers and just pick the one you think is the most appropriate action. It won't take you the 30minutes and I would advise not to overthink it. Good luck!

4000, blimey. They can take their pick then can’t they. No wonder the conditions are so stringent. I assume that means that the application we filled out was probably filtered out electronically to get us to the SJT stage ? And that if we are successful at that stage then the application will probably only be reviewed by human interaction at that point.
