Manchester may lose some doubles next week onwards due to the extension and resumption of North East to South West and North East to South Coast services respectively, albeit the latter on a reduced route and frequency. At present Manc receives roughly a double every other hour, though this is an average and there can be consecutive hours of doubles and a couple of hours gap.
Will be 18 Double set services daily as of next monday.

Not sure if it has already been mentioned but the 1427 Plymouth to Edinburgh is usually a 9-car set as far as Newcastle.

A double going to Manchester today actually showing on Journey Check - a rarity on a Saturday. Earlier arrivals could have been a double too but I wasn't up early to look :D

As put out before, while 5 car and 4 car sets have separate diagrams, in practice they operate as a common fleet.

Edited to add this is relevant as it highlights why a 9 or 10 coach double set can turn up on diagrams officially booked for 8 cars.

Maybe because I was asking about 1S55, which I've seen as a 220+220 and a 220+221.
I maybe wrong, but I don't think specific diagrams are booked 220 + 221 vs 220 +220. I think services are just booked either Voyager or Double Voyager (or HST). 221129 will know.

Well that's what @Rich McLean was saying. They have separate diagrams but in reality they operate as a common pool.

221s and 220s have separate diagrams. Thus you can have specific 9 and 8 car diagrams.

Pretty much everything into Manchester is a double this week; not sure yet about the weekend. This info from a friend who works on the railways. Don't know if that makes up for the lack of the second arrival or not! Ideally there would be two per hour both doubles but XC obviously haven't got the rolling stock to double up everything under normal circumstances.

The first single set in Manchester is 1V94 at 2027 this evening and 1M74 arriving at 2324.Everything else is a double

I have seen a lot of double sets of voyagers running through Banbury recently, including many 9 car sets and a 10 car set the other day.

I am also still seeing a lot of 4 car single sets running. It is a shame that XC can’t organise it so that services are formed of mainly 5 car and 8 car sets (I know it is not as easy as it sounds due to the complexity of XC diagrams)

It was a list of headcodes which i dont understand.
There is a very easy to use search facility in Realtimetrains. Simply type the headcode into the search box at the top of the page or change the headcode in this link.
https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/handler?qsearch=1M18&type=detailed

For example
1M18, 1O14, 1M50, 1O30 Throughout
1M18 0515 Southampton Central to Manchester Piccadilly
1O14 1027 Manchester Piccadilly to Reading
1M50 1415 Reading to Manchester Piccadilly
1O30 1827 Manchester Piccadilly to Bournemouth

took a matter of seconds to look up

Hopefully the Avanti West Coast 221's will transfer to XC when they become available - if it was me I'd therefore recruit more staff so that there would be 17 8-car (double 4-car) Voyagers!

The 1339 Newcastle to Bristol was a double Voyager today, saw it passing Burton-on-Trent but couldn't see what the consist was.

Took me half a minute to identify those 4, as my tablet doesn't do split-screen, so about a minute to copy and paste the timetable info you kindly added.
Fine for an odd train, but not for a list of 60--odd.

I know some insiders have access to information that only has headcodes, and don't have time/energy to do more, and I appreciate what they provide, but it isn't a format members can easily access.

So it did take a matter of seconds then. For what it is worth it took well over an hour and a half to look it all up manually between trains at work, to provide the diagrams. If people want the info then there needs to be a bit of give and take.

1M38 0945 BMH to MAN showing as 9 car at Coventry and 221121 + 221136 turned up. First class is in coaches 1 and 10 but I don't think either are locked out.

And for what it's worth, I find it much easier to search for a service when a headcode is provided, otherwise it's a lot of messing around with the location and time etc.
