It’s timed as a 313 - that’s to say the times between stations used to compile the timetable are those that were used for 313s when they still operated.

If you used other timings you’d have to rewrite the timetable, and that would have a snowballing effect on other services they interact with having to be retimed and so on and so on.

The 378s and now the 710s can both keep to 313 timings, the savings would be minimal, just easier all round to use what was there before.

Hi this is my first post here. I was looking on real time trains and saw that the 2D76 13:28 London Euston to Watford Junction (https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/C92066/2020-07-19/detailed) has been pathed as a Class 313? I thought these were withdrawn from the Overground years ago, does anyone know if this is real or a glitch?
Timed as a 313. Doesn’t mean one will appear. Just read it as “timed for any stock that matches or exceeds 313 performance.” I’ve checked a few others and there are quite a few.

Indeed, Chiltern has services timed for 156s and 158s, which they've never used.

Welcome to the forums.

There’s always trains timed for 75mph Pacer on Northern services which are now booked for a class 158. It’s just a pathing allowance rather than the booked traction.

It is a glitch I have noticed it myself try looking at other destinations where trains or units have been withdrawn from use realtimetrains seem to put the old types on rather than the current

It's not a glitch at all. It shows the timing load, NOT the booked traction which are 2 very different things.

Not only that, - Real Time Trains uses data (including classes used for timing) from published railway data, - it doesn't make it up by putting "the old types on rather than the current".

that is completely inaccurate. it isn't a glitch. It is showing the performance parameters upon which the schedule is based.
