Yeah that’s what I got it on, very speedy compared to the other 158s I’ve had on that line. Worst one had to be 872, that most Deffo needs a refurb!
I've never found any ride difference between 158's with different engines. The bogies are the same but the Perkins engine sounds alot gruffer than the Cummins engine which may give the impression of a smoother ride in a Cummins powered unit.Currently on 158910 on Bishop Auckland-Saltburn, it feels a lot smother ride than the 1588xx
The 158/9's have always been a bit quicker than all the other 158's as there is no heavy 2nd toilet to lug about.I was on it today. Bit of a flying machine.
158 872 is the last unrefurbished example of the ones fitted originally with the 400hp rather than 350hp engines.Yeah that’s what I got it on, very speedy compared to the other 158s I’ve had on that line. Worst one had to be 872, that most Deffo needs a refurb!
Is it known where the digital mods are carried out and roughly how long they take?
I've hit or travelled 100mph in 158910 in ATN days on areas between Carlisle and Glasgow Central. Very quick and kept to class 87 timings.(0949 Leeds to Glasgow Central via Carlisle)I've never found any ride difference between 158's with different engines. Flying machines. The 158/9’s normally operated the Glasgow as they were the only ATN 158’s without first class. Oddly enough it was a route that could have taken advantage of having 1st class.I've hit or travelled 100mph in 158910 in ATN days on areas between Carlisle and Glasgow Central. Most of the digital 156 mods have taken place at Newton Heath, although some units have had them fitted away from the Northern network.
Additionally moves between Allerton and Wolverton presumably 323s. And Neville hill to from Crewe CS presumably 158s.Only 3 STP schedules for 15/08 so far.

The Neville Hill STP's are duplicates of those already posted and are 75mph paths, so could be anything.Additionally moves between Allerton and Wolverton presumably 323s. And Neville hill to from Crewe CS presumably 158s.

1451 NL - Crewe running.
Crewe to Heaton, guessing 158844.
What's the Heaton to crew workings today
843At a guess, I'd say between, 842/3/51/3/5 or 861. The last Heaton ones to be refreshed.
