Yeah that’s what I got it on, very speedy compared to the other 158s I’ve had on that line. Worst one had to be 872, that most Deffo needs a refurb!

Currently on 158910 on Bishop Auckland-Saltburn, it feels a lot smother ride than the 1588xx
I've never found any ride difference between 158's with different engines. The bogies are the same but the Perkins engine sounds alot gruffer than the Cummins engine which may give the impression of a smoother ride in a Cummins powered unit.

I was on it today. Bit of a flying machine.
The 158/9's have always been a bit quicker than all the other 158's as there is no heavy 2nd toilet to lug about.

158 872 is the last unrefurbished example of the ones fitted originally with the 400hp rather than 350hp engines.
This was discussed a while back somewhere on the forum. Despite having more horses the engines dont rev as high so there slower off the mark in low (hydraulic) ratio and the extra power dosent show up until they. get into direct drive.

I didn’t realise 158872 had been discussed. I’ve had 158850, 859, 872 and 910 on the Bishop line in the last few weeks and 910 was the best out the lot. As for 156s not much can be said about them lol. Surprised to see a few still knocking about with northern interiors

I've hit or travelled 100mph in 158910 in ATN days on areas between Carlisle and Glasgow Central. Very quick and kept to class 87 timings.(0949 Leeds to Glasgow Central via Carlisle)

Flying machines. The 158/9’s normally operated the Glasgow as they were the only ATN 158’s without first class. Oddly enough it was a route that could have taken advantage of having 1st class.

The Neville Hill STP's are duplicates of those already posted and are 75mph paths, so could be anything.

Heaton - Crewe
90mph paths

Eastleigh 156

Crewe - Newton Heath

There are also 16/08 STP's for Holbeck - HT & Rtn
and a NL- HT

Here is 150002 seen at Stockport with 150148 in tow on 5B31 (best I could get as an Avanti 390 was occupying the full length of platform 2 when it passed)

This was followed almost immediately by 150214 on 5E81
