Just been sent these by a friend.

Apparently their being delivered to the UK in base livery. They are then fitted with rear ad frames and receive final detailing before travelling up to Edinburgh.

He said there are between 10-15 on site. And they are to be delivered in 3's or 5's.

Confirmed as all of the batch being in the UK now. Some in Scotland, not all.

I've already answered this in a post thats been deleted?

Manufacturers register very much in the same way as car manufacturers do. Not sure if its the same everywhere but thats how we do it.

All of our new buses are registered though Volvo Newbridge. We dont do it on site and we have very little say on what the registration plates are to be.

It is very exciting with the deliveries of the Evoras - do you know if they will follow the same registration series as 66 (SJ70HNH)?
Also, the 7900hs and Eclipse 2s will be surplus off the 36 if they take over that route, do you know which route they might go on instead?

The evoras are rumoured to be going on route 30. Although there is conflicting messages on exactly how many are due I am led to believe 30 buses will be delivered against a PVR of 27. Capacity wise the 30 has been in need for larger vehicles for some time.

Some older single deck vehicles have already been sold in anticipation for the entry to service (04/55/07’s)

I’d expect long term we will see the pre lockdown “single deck routes” return - 1,2,12,24,30,36,38,42,45,48.

Unfortunately it's just a case of what Volvo have been allocated, re-registration plates.

As @Lothiangem22 said there's 27 buses required for the 30 Monday - Saturday so it's probably unlikely they'll stray off that in any big way. That's if they are for the 30 . I imagine Sundays you'll probably see them on the 2/38/36 in bigger numbers.

Can’t wait for them to enter service-they will be a good replacement for the ancient 04/55/07 B7RLEs as much as I like them...

Not as ancient as buses alot of other companies run, I thought the 07/57 plates were like brand new in comparison to the buses I used to drive!

Won't find many companies that replace buses at 12-13 years old, I won't mention any other companies in the area

I know what you mean. I noticed MP Travel near Liverpool bought two, SN58BYR and SN57DDA, for their Arriva contract route X1 from Liverpool to Runcorn. I'm sure many operators could snap these up and have them running for at least another 10 years. MP Travel also bought a B8RLE MCV Evora for this route too.

I remember when the 04s were new on the 22 and guided busway. Felt like a step up from the SPDs (although I've never liked Darts, maybe that's just me)

They've been terrific servants to Lothian for sure but time to move them on and continue to modernise the fleet.

Will there be a Christmas video this year?
Due to social distancing and it being entirely non essential, I'd suggest no.

The days are gone where the company would got out and spend +£10k for an irrelevant video.

Its a bus company and thats what its gone back to after Hall has left. It is no longer a vanity project.

I would understand not being able to do it this year due to the pandemic but I wouldn’t go as far and say the video is irrelevant, I always found them very touching and personal

It is irrelevant, Lothians job is a bus operator, not a psychologist.

Does anyone know when more information will be released for the Christmas/festive period services e.g. timetables route variations ect.....

(I know that First is operating the 600 and the 26 and that LothianCountry is operating the X27/X28, 31, 275 and the 280):)

Next week officially I believe. Service levels look pretty decent considering the circumstances.

Good!
It is irrelevant. no need for one
Just to be clear. i didnt say definitely, i just said it's highly unlikely, as its a totally unnecessary expense.

The companies +£18million in debt, it is no longer a money burning machine, it needs to be a money making machine.

I'd put money on the eVoRa's and the ADL order being the last order for a while too.

Frivolous expenses (+£10k) on Production companies, film crews, directors, actors and producers are irrelevant for a bus company. They dont need that kind of advertising, their biggest advertising is the +700 strong fleet that drive around all day...

The best thing to do would be to drop the West Lothian operation down to 2-3 key routes, focus on the city network and sell off mid life stock that is no longer required/being replaced. Start small, work your way up, which is, ironically what Bright Bus are doing in retaliation.

I think everyone’s well aware Lothian a bus operator, but calling a nice video at the end of the year irrelevant when it’s meant to brighten up people’s spirits is what I call grinchy  times are changing with social media expanding to connect folk and I think the videos every year give the company more of a human personality, and if you get rid of that, you may aswell have robots running the place instead of.. well human brings!

But for this year Its understandable if they don’t do one with social distancing but they are still a delight to watch, and even though they are a bus company they do go the extra mile on social media compared to other operators I’ve seen.

But if this was first bus doing this I doubt it would be irrelevant then

I’m guessing Hogmanay buses won’t be a thing this year
