Thanks both. I didn't realize there was slack in the N Scotland fleet; I also saw Buchan-branded coaches in Edinburgh a few weeks ago so they must have been on rail replacement too.
Is there somewhere which provides a map with the tracker location for Stagecoach and/or Megabus vehicles at all? I tried the Megabus website but you can only view one service at a time there, and there's some routes aren't showing tracked vehicles at all (e.g. the 900). I recall someone saying they knew of one of the new "900 Glasgow - Edinburgh" coaches being used down to London, is this sort of thing purely from actually seeing the coach though?

bustimes.org contains a Stagecoach and Citylink tracker, although it can be a bit temperamental. I happen to know one of the regular drivers on rail rep at the moment hence how i know that they've been going to central for breaks.

Bluebird have typically been using one of the 10 branded Elites on Rail Rep. As these are Elgin based, the vehicle on loan has been rotating to allow for servicing as Aberdeen (i understand) aren't type trained for Volvo B11s.

You can view 54832's tracking from yesterday here - https://bustimes.org/vehicles/30406?date=2020-10-28

I've seen photos elsewhere of 900 branded coaches on the M11 so it is true, i don't think they've been tracking though.

Maybe they can see reg on a tracker. Always amazes me some people know the exact fleet numbers!

Has anyone else noticed how hard it seems to be to download a timetable from stagecoachbus.com?

I wanted to have a look at the timetable for the 66 between Stonehouse and Stroud. There is a page which should allow me to do this - https://www.stagecoachbus.com/timetables

There is a text box which says "enter a bus number". Typing in "66" brings up a humongous list of 66s - OK, multiple Stagecoach depots have a route 66, that's fair enough - the problem is that if you try to scroll down this list using the mouse wheel, it won't let you and it scrolls you down the entire page! To scroll down the list, you have to select the "see more" button for some reason.

Here, another problem becomes apparent. Routes which aren't circular have both directions listed, and both lead to the same file. This means that there are almost twice the requisite number of links.
Also, if I want the 66 that passes through Stroud, searching "66 Stroud" doesn't get me the right thing, even though searching "66 Stonehouse" does.

Then, to add insult to injury, the timetables for Sundays use yellow text on a white background... wow, great consideration for accessibility there(!)

It's almost as if Stagecoach would rather people didn't know what times their buses run.

And it's not like any other sections of the website are better. The journey planner is painfully slow and awkward to use, and the whole thing just feels clunky and lacking polish.

Why can they not put some effort into designing their website to be intuitive and well-designed?

Did you set your location? Doing this cuts down the number of timetables you're offered.

Works fine for me, although I’m on a iPad, so no mouse!
Although my location is set elsewhere in the country, simply typing Stroud into the planner brought up the bus station first, and despite another Stonehouse being much closer to my location, when typing it into the planner as my destination, it brought up the Glos one first. It then gave me the 61, 64 and 66 services as options, with pdfs available to download too if I wanted them.
The yellow text is awful though!

Just been sent out to people by email

Following the government’s guidance to stay at home and stop all non-essential travel, we’ve taken the decision to temporarily suspend our megabus services in England and Wales, with no journeys running after Sunday 10 January. But we’ll still be continuing to run our megabus services within Scotland and a service from Glasgow to London (with intermediate stops at Manchester and Birmingham). These services are for essential travel only, in line with the latest government guidance.

I’d say it’s how you define in service to answer that
In regular service, there’s 51 plate Solos in the Lake District, and a few 02 plate Tridents in East Midlands.
For school use only, there’s 1992 (K plate) Volvo B10Ms in the Cumbria school runner fleet
For seasonal use, there’s lots of older open top Tridents in the likes of Skegness and Cumbria, the oldest being 1999 / S plates

It's funny I saw a white E400 on a 21 plate running a 15 to Dover on Thursday and though oooh Stagecoach had spent some money, I hadn't considered they hadn't been wrapped in a P&R livery yet but if they are going to the P&R it'll be a bit of an upgrade on the old fleet

The current vehicles were renewed at the same time as the contract was last renewed (in 2013 - they are -63- registration), so the average replacement cycle for this contract. Various forms of alternative propulsion were initially considered by Canterbury City Council, before Covid meant that only 'regular' vehicles were going to be suitable.

As the service is currently heavily reduced (indeed, the current vehicles have had two periods on loan in Northampton), it presumably makes more sense to run them in allover white at the moment until vinyls are needed.

The loaning to Northampton was news to me, I don't follow very often (more trains than buses) but yeah it makes perfect sense cheers

Does anybody know where to find an up to date Megabus/Citylink fleet list?
There are some 52 reg Alx400s at Herne Bay and Eastbourne. Some 51 reg open top examples at Thanet as well.

Bluebird still operate 5 Ex-Dublin Volvo B7TLs on full service work often on longer rural runs in place of coaches too. There's currently no plans to replace them.

Of these 16973/74 are X plates and turn 21 years old later this year. 16975/76 are 51 plates while 16977 is a 02 plate.

The 15 single decks for Kilmarnock will be 10.9m
The 9 single decks for Perth will be 11.6m versions
The 22 double decks will be 10.8 or 10.9m (seen both quoted)

Theres 22 10.9M Double Deckers for Aberdeen. 15 10.9M single deckers for Kilmarnock and 9 11.6M single deckers for Perth.

Aberdeens will be going on the X17, 59 & 727, Kilmarnocks on the 3, 6 & 9, while Perths are for the 1/2.

Stagecoach London has transferred at least 2 of its E200s (10.2m versions) to the training fleet. Fleet numbers 36262 and 36263. Being repainted purple.

At least 3 of the Optare versa trainers have left. There were 4 Versa in London training fleet, but not sure about 24302 (25303 to Highland Country, Inverness; 25304 to ? 25305 to GTC training

I presume the E200s are London LEZ compliant, and am guessing the Versa were not upgraded to euroVI

25304 has gone to Moffat & Williamson. 25302 is now a trainer for Cumbria & North Lancs at Carlisle.
E200s 36265/6 are the first to be returned off lease too.

Pardon me if this post is late to the party, but as of writing, the Stagecoach Bus website has been completely revamped, reflecting the new livery launched last year.

Sadly, to the ordinary bus commuter, it's the same old, same old and it's quite tricky to search times and information regarding a particular service. Stagecoach Rewards seems to receive more publicity though, let's hope that goodies retains the level of passengers.

What does anyone else think of this?

Noticed that recently there’s been some slight movements on Megabus. The interdecks seem to have been taken off the M20 and replaced with Panoramas, while the M11 is now a mix of Panorama and Astromega.

Is this a temporary change as I’m off to London in June and I don’t particularly fancy an Astromega showing up given how old Megabus’s are.

Some election material prior to the Local Elections stated that an electric bus is to be coming to Stagecoach South's Aldershot depot to work on routes between Farnborough and Fleet (which is the 10).

Most likely that the said vehicle would just so happen to venture out on another route.

It was an Interdeck when I took the M20 to London last year. I had a funny moment when I forgot it was an interdeck and I went downstairs looking for the toilet. It was a long journey but I wanted to go that route. It would have probably been cheaper on the train and a lot quicker!

I don't use Megabus regularly anymore to London. But back when I did it was pot luck if you got a Panther or Astromega.
