Comedic "things you would ban": minor things that irritate you

People using newly bought pots, pans etc with the price/barcode/product sticker still attached.

Or you ask for houses in one area and get a load of houses miles away, most of which are actually already sold.

Or when a product sells out on a website, but it is listed with a low price so it still comes up first in search results.

Or when you look for almost anything on Google, and Amazon always comes up first. You go to the page and inevitably it's "this product is not available, we do not know when or if it will be available again".

The use of 1960/70s music in "period" ITV dramas. Yes, "Endeavour", I'm looking at you .......

I can remember the songs, but can I remember who recorded them? <(

Can we ban people who have their bus ticket on a mobile phone app from

  • having a conversation on the phone whilst waiting at the bus stop
  • getting on the bus when it arrives and then expecting to finish the conversation before opening the app and showing the ticket to the driver.
  • expecting the bus to continue on its journey whilst finishing the conversation
  • giving a load of verbal abuse to the driver when he asked him to show the ticket when getting on the bus.
I saw this happen earlier on today.

I can't say on this forum what I would like to call him, but in the South of Birmingham there is a tourist attraction called Sarehole Mill.

I am sure that with some rearrangement of the letters of the name of this attraction, you might come up with a suitable word to describe this individual. <D

My turn; ban days that go remarkably well until about 4.30pm when everything suddenly goes to hell in a handcart and you find yourself working into the middle of the evening.

Especially Fridays, bonus point for payday Fridays.

Another thing that annoys me, I work in a charity shop and we sell second hand cheaply enough already. People come in and then haggle over a few pence, this really winds me and my manager up. My manager won't give in though. :D :D

There is the Magic Roundabout in Swindon, Wiltshire where you can go the opposite way round if it is a shorter route to exit.

As far as I am aware, Swindon is only famous for three good things being 1) Headquarters of the Great Western Railway, 2) The aforementioned Magic Roundabout, and 3) the post punk rock band XTC, famous for their hits "Making Plans for Nigel" (1979) and "Senses Working Overtime" (1982).
And Arkell's brewery.

Do they come in and argue that as it was given to the shop, they ought to let people who ‘need’ (want) it have it free: “You’re a charity so you ought to let us have it.” This is particularly noticeable in one nearby shop selling furniture that belongs to a national charity that is raising money for a specific medical problem.

People forget that the manager needs paying, plus things like rent, electric and insurances etc need to be paid for. People do expect something for nothing and we get our fair share of shop lifters .

Tangled up extension leads and hosepipes!
Yes they're a pain, especially hosepipes when they get a kink in them, and I have to walk back and unkink it. :( :D

Or if the pipe / tap connection fails and the water sprays everywhere, just when you're at the end of the garden!

I’d ban all Audi cars from being driven. I predict it would reduce dangerous driving incidents by 50% overnight.

At least ban the stupid streaky rear indicator lights that they seem to be a fan of these days.

this must be a regional thing. In my neck of the woods it’s BMWs and small Nissans that are driven badly. Audis are generally driven exceptionally well, particularly mine. :)

they’re brilliant! And other manufacturers are following suit.

Mostly Glasgow-ish. Mostly.
Tangled up extension leads and hosepipes!

Even worse that that; the inevitable cable detritus gathered over the years, stuffed into a drawer without thought until you realise the drawer's full and you pull out a solid spaghetti monster of USB cables, unused dongles, US/Canadian power leads that were never needed to begin with, audio cables, MIDI cables, speaker wire, ethernet cables with broken boots and server fibre leads.

I don't know how you'd ban it but it needs banning.

The blingy lights are part of a cunning plan to encourage Audi drivers to break the habit of a lifetime and start using indicators.

I think we’ve already had “people stopping for a chat while shopping and blocking the aisle”. Yesterday I was having a swim and two women stopped for a chat halfway down the pool, blocking the other couple of us in the lane. Totally unaware of what they were doing. They’re definitely banned in my world

In Birmingham it seems to be Toyota Prius taxis that drive according to their own rules...
(This reminds me of an sixth form assembly, after there had supposedly been some sort of erratic driving in the car park. Cue angry headteacher (in thick Welsh accent): "a white BMW has been doing doughnuts in the car park, and I can assure you it's not mine!")

On the subject of taxis, I'd ban them from driving at 40mph along the A38 in south Birmingham, as it's rather intimidating and causes some erratic driving. I think what's happened here is that sections of the road used to be 40, but has now been changed to a blanket 30. (I don't know the history of this, it's only in the last year that I've driven along here; to be honest, as far as I can tell there's literally no reason to have changed the limit apart from politics.)

To be honest most people still drive at 40 (at least!) along that *. Been a few years since the change hasn't it?

* Apart from myself obviously.

Hair. More specifically that which sprouts where I don’t want it such as ears and nostrils now that my head hair is getting thinner on top. Oh the joy of being a sexagenarian!
