I wonder if they're doing it certain depots at a time, anyone applied for Crewe heard back?

Also, I thought testing results were valid for 5 years.
I applied for Crewe on the 2nd still haven't heard anything other than you will get your results within 20 working days.
The test results are valid for 5 years for freightliner.

I've applied for Ipswich and heard back Thursday. Anyone else?
What's the next part of the process for you?
Good luck

Always keep the faith mate. people are hearing back at different times. they said 20 days for a reason im sure they have lots to work through and will take all the time they stated.

I don't see why a dmi first makes any sense and in my experience is not usually the case. You would have hundreds of applicants that would be ready for a individual dmi if you do that........ yet you can take 20 plus at a time for most the assessments.

i cant see any manager wanting to do 200 dmi interviews :E

so many ppl get through to assessments why spend 45 minutes interviewing everyone when a large chunk will fail (enhanced) assessments. Makes no sense to me.
I think a lot will have been weeded out by distance, it will also make the process a bit more streamlined with regards who goes to the assessments and the long periods between assessment days. If the manager feels you’re a fit for his team and you have scored the required mark on the interview.

I guess we’ll never know the reasoning behind it. Just good luck to all that have applied. I’m revising and practicing psychometrics every chance I get.

any one else applied for earlies?

I applied for Eastleigh on the 4th.

Anyone else heard back yet? Also just double checking they email the tests to you (if you are successful!) And not a case of I need to be checking an OPC account for example?

Had anyone heard after doing the VSE and M7SJT? I’ve just done mine, it was tricky.

I have to complete m7stj and VSE by Thursday. Was going to do it today but the broadband is up and down :(
God don’t do it, literally failed to submit the M7SJT 3 times because broadband started to randomly drop and has 2 mins left on my timer o_O finally got it submitted as my alarm went off. Good luck when you come to do it, however!

Also, keep the faith - 20 working days is practically super speed in my experience. I once applied in April, didn’t hear until October.

Hi All, the link to the application website doesnt work, has this now been closed?

I can only see job applications for "train driver" not "trainee train driver"

The tests will be emailed to you from the OPC directly. You don’t need to have an account or anything. Good luck.

The vacancy has closed now. As with most trainee vacancies they receive 1000’s of applications so often close very quickly.

Cheers PickleTree, fingers crossed I'll get to work along side you at Eastleigh!

I'd say keep the faith even after 20 - railway recruitment is notoriously slow.
Oh I know, for my current role it took 18 months from application through testing to start date!

Railway jobs are for life eh

Just finished the M7SJT. Gotta say it was the most challenging of any I've completed so far.

Very well written questions with answers that are cleverly constructed.

VSE to go.

VSE done. OMFG that was a step up too. Read loads of posts stating how easy it is compared to the practice material, so probably bombed out there. Oh well, always another year.

It was much harder than the practice material and the M7SJT was very tough too, I found it tricky and hard to clearly determine what competency they were measuring.

Hopefully we’ve done better than we think - fingers crossed.

Just done both tests as well, VSE certainly got a bit hectic, M7SJT was tricky, a few answers were very similar. Done now though.

I've got my VSE and M7SJT to complete by Wednesday. I've been practicing using the practice material provided is there anything else better I should be doing to help my chances before sitting the tests?

Not that I've seen, no. To relax is most important I think. So what ever helps you do that.
