Back in Sept my wife and I got married at GCR and we would highly recommend it to anyone who’s considering getting hitched and has an interest in anything railway and vintage.

we had the ceremony in the gallery room, then the wedding breakfast on the veranda car which was brilliant. We had our own bar and toilet so it was really nice to have our own party atmosphere, plus the food was amazing!!

then we had the evening party at Quorn in the freshly refurbished marquee, ohh and we had a steam carousel too! We had a pie and mash van for the evening food which was something different.

The guys at the railway were great, we were the first couple to get married there and as it was being planned during the pandemic it was fun at times but it all came together and we had an amazing day!!

The run down of the day was the wedding party arrived at Quorn and got on a train to Loughborough. We had a reserved section of the train just for us so we had seats etc… mean while my wife to be was on her way direct to Loughborough.. after the ceremony there was time for some photos before going off for a lovely meal.. then back to Loughborough for some more photos before all returning to Quorn on the same train my self and the wedding party arrived on in the morning, then some more photos and a few goes on the carousel before the evening guest arrived.

So glad you enjoyed your special day - the photos are superb. I think I might have been one of the signalmen that day, I'm sure I remember seeing your party roll past in the verandah car!

@LowLevel I do always wonder how many folks are on here and working at the railway when we visit, we have been a few times now and love it.

@Flying Phil the Veranda car is amazing! It really made the day something special! You can’t beat trundling along with that view! And on the return leg my best man and my self did spend a fair while admiring the loco and wondering if we could own a traction engine between us - we would prefer a train but the lack of available railway in our gardens put a stop to that idea pretty quick haha.
On the back it said “Just married” on the red disk, it was little things like that which also made the day.

we have so many great photos from the day!

My dad and stepmum are finally getting to use the voucher we as a family bought him for his 80th birthday last year ! .
They are doing the "Christmas to the sound of the Slay Bells" on 1st December Murder Mystery and are really looking forward to it.
You certainly had a good time judging by your pictures !

We had a great time. My friend from my car club days house backs onto the line near Loughborough, we was on a fish and chip train and he was in his garden with his little lad waving, I posted on FB we expect bunting on our wedding day and they didn’t disappoint!

I am biased but it is by far the best wedding we have ever been to!
