Further reductions on top of the ones already published for next week?

I get running a reliable service is key requirement whilst train crew and support staff will undoubtedly be in short supply but i fear this will run on for a lot longer this time unless DofT get extra funding from treasury as they will be short of cash having only been given an additional £2.1B to support TOCs. As a reminder they burnt through 9B in 2020/21 year albeit this year had been better until last month.

DofT will look at what they can hack back so could rapidly see anything on easily terminable leases just stopped.
If the timetable from the 10th is going to be a Saturday or possibly a Sunday service a 321 (or 322) working looks like being restricted to Branches such as Harwich/Walton if even that!

The plan is for a Sunday service with a few extra early and late trains. Assume the DfT have asked for that as they are expecting heavy sickness or there is another plan the government are reluctant to announce.

Recently since 29th December 2021.
The southminster branch has also completely gone to 720s.
Hopefully from 03rd January 2022.
Retanus 321 do return. However just hope retanus 321 don't go into early withdrawal or store.

I saw a pair yesterday on the 15:02 to Ipswich from Liverpool Street, so they’re definitely still operating this bank holiday weekend, albeit in lower frequencies (mostly due to engineering works).

DofT know government mantra is WFH this equates to less fare box income so they instruct operators to move to sunday services to save a couple of bob.

Oh yes I think we’ve heard your (wrong) guesswork about five times now... It’s sustainable timetables for crew availability.

Possibly as a useful aid for those wanting to photograph our withdrawn/stored 321s (while following whatever the Covid rules are at the time please) I thought a list of their current locations would be good. I can start us off but due to not getting out much, it's a bit sparse;

They repaired it? I suppose it's not like BR days where a slightly damaged unit would become a source of spares for the rest of the remaining fleet.

Is anything up with Renatus 329? It was blocked in by 336 and 339 the other day

The service is only a little reduced the next few days so there be probably a number of 321’s about, but next week onwards there may well be a rapid run down if the drastically reduced timetable comes in and is in a while.

Errr no… there are no COVID rules that would present this, and with good reason.

Some 12 car 321’s booked next week
I assume it will be less diagrams and therefore longer formations.

I don’t think we need to get into Covid stuff in this thread.
There’s a whole section to jump into if you want to do that! ;)
