Happy New Year to everybody, I will get us kicked off with announcing that I am doing a North West Round Robin sometime at the end of January which should take me up to almost 500 miles :D

Is anyone out on the trains running overnight tonight? Who's going to record the first "miles" of 2011?

I'll be on the 0940 off Cherry Tree tomorrow morning, but I think someone will be sooner :D

I'll do the 2011 Competition properly, and that began today with a return from Cherry Tree to Littleborough via Hebden Bridge, which my back of an envelope maths told me was 71mi 36ch, which I will check with the relevant OP links. Full details of mileages, TOCs travelled with and stock class travelled on will appear as my signature later, and will be updated after every journey :D

I'm actually going to work it out properly this year. I'll collate the chains into a spreadsheet or something and add them up at the end rather than just round down every trip.

Kicked it off today with Bamber Bridge - Preston at 4m 05ch :)

Rather than using chains, some of us use decimal like the rest of the country has since 1971! ;)

First miles of 2011 for me are the 75 from Doncaster to Yarm.

:( I hoped at least to be winning for today after my trip to Taunton, knowing that I have no chance whatsoever overall... ;)

Lucky lot, having started already! If I wasn't working today, I'd have gone out yesterday. My grand start to this year failed completely after I didn't wake up until 1346! So a huge total of 0 so far, can't wait to get started!

So I don't forget, my target is 10,000 miles for 2011.

117 miles is my start to the year, target is to beat my 10,008 of last year, and will count up all of the chains at the end, also, The London Underground caught me out of a few miles last year, anyone help with data for this as they are not listed above.

Many Thanks
Lewis M

London Underground is done on Rail Miles, just type in the name of the station and make sure they correct line is selected.

It also does it for DLR and trams

The southern region quail map is a good source for underground mileage. At £14.95, it may seem alot, but its going to be useful for what I need it for. Besides, I have the other 4, so it now completes the set.

I would like to say I'll beat my last year's score of just over 31k but I doubt it.

Lost a lot of interest and no 67s to sit on in my free time.

First time entry in the contest. Kicking off mine today for a good 300 miles plus all the LU journeys and doing it quite a few times in the next few months. I'm hoping for a decent total.

My target would be 10k to round off a nice first full season. Nowhere near enough to win the competition tho.

I didn't bother with this last year but as with a new year, I'm doing new stuff this year including a new outlook on life so will certainly be doing making notes of the mileage for 2011!

Good on you. Just wait, you'll get hooked on it soon!

Started my travels for 2011 yesterday. Not gotten it all into RailMiles yet, but about to go and start on that after I make this post.

Sadly looks like I won't be top of the league even for 5 minutes though :(

Having looked at the league, I think I should be in 5th so far. 347 miles racked up yesterday, not bad at all for a little over £27.

Details of what I did:

Well, I'm off to a blazing start although I do need the mileage for Kings Cross St Pancras to London Victoria on the Victoria LUL line.

Let's just say I didn't realise I did some much mileage!
