Yes, just a bit of humour!

The idea that a thing like that could strand a couple of units I found funny!

Some serious queuing to get into Derby 1F07 was around eight late in . Checked down well before Spondon
From what I can see on RTT:
180109 passed Long Eaton at 0708 and arrived at Derby at 0744.

1F03 arrived at Long Eaton at 0716 and was held until 0737 before terminating at Derby at 0756. Suspect it joined with 1F05 which arrived at 0803. Normally these join on arrival at Sheffield.
1V04 was not recorded between Trent Junction and Derby so could of diverted via Stenson to arrive via Peartree?
A test train, 1F05, 1K53, 1G96 and 1F07 then followed 1F03 via Spondon all arriving between 0800 and 0819. 1F10 arrived on time at 0829 giving 4 services from London in the space of 33 minuets.

On Friday I passed a driving vehicle of an EMR class 180 on the back of a low loader on the M62 going westbound, east of Leeds. Not sure if it's related to this particular unit but does anyone know which of the four EMR units it was and where it was going? I was driving the other way so couldn't see a unit number.

It is the same one, it’s gone to get a new driveshaft

I presume the new driveshaft and final drive has now been fitted as the offending vehicle returned to Etches Pk on a low loader this afternoon.

Hope so! I like the 180's (when they're working), they're comfy and quick

I like em too. They're an absolute pleasure to drive and, speaking personally, have had very few problems with them.
Good to hear they're good to drive as well as be a passenger on. Having read about their various reliablility woes i travelled on one the other week, and it was a genuine pleasure

Yes I like them. I had 180111 on Fri on the 17.35 St Pan to Nott from Kettering. Great acceleration and generally nice ambience. I believe 4 car 180110 was out too so 2 out of 3 serviceable sets out, better availability than the 360s.... I see (or hear) a 180 every weekday morning on the 06.35 St Pancras to Nott leaving Kettering.

Certainly cracking units to travel on as a passenger. I don’t think I’ve experienced a more comfortable train anywhere on the network.

Agreed - in a way I was sad to see them go from Hull Trains, as when they were working properly they were great trains as a passenger

To be replaced by units that hopefully aren’t cracking…

Every single one seems to have ultra squeaky brakes and the engines drown out the 222. Or do I keep seeing the same one.

Passed one heading southbound on the M1 yesterday on the back of a low loader (somewhere between Sheffield and Nottingham)

The squeal from the brakes is due to the pads, each of which is composed of 18 big copper nuts. This prevents a build up of glazing which inhibits braking performance on units with normal pads. It sounds horrendous, but gives a great braking performance.

Yes. That was a poor choice of words given the class 800’s current woes!

The brakes do sound horrendous. Like someone scratching their nails down a blackboard. There’s usually at least two of them broken at any one time so often a 50/50 chance of seeing the same one!

Horrendous is an understatement. I literally cringe every time I hear one.

Not sure if I have seen one. I just see 180's quite a lot

You will have done at Nottingham and between Clay Cross and Sheffield. The very modern and shiny Northern units…

Rather different in appearance to the dogboxes we have running in the same area :D.
