How do the percentages on the poll work
seems to add up to nearer 200% than 100%
You can vote for more than one option. I expect most people use different methods for short local trips compared to long Inter City journeys.

I actually paid in cash at TVM last weekend, trying to get rid of all of the change I'd collected from the Chinese takeaway (literally the only place I use cash). I was beyond thrilled when the cost of 2x Off Peak Returns from Wolves to Brum with a Two Together Railcard came to exactly the amount of shrapnel I'd thrown into my pocket. Very satisfying indeed.

I have an annual season ticket on a smartcard but I don't use the smartcard for anything else. The whole buying a ticket elsewhere to then have to load it on to the card is very clunky for me.

I'll buy all other tickets via Trainline or Train Split. Preferring e-tickets and when paper tickets are the only option, getting annoyed as I often forget to collect them or have to leave earlier as the only TVMs are on the other side of the station.

I got no choice when i use cash. Ticket Machine only when one of the ticket office staff is on duty they will NOT take cash.
That needs to be reported. Sounds like the member of staff is making up their own rules.

It all started with covid . Say'ing i will not touch cash. A few week's back the ticket machines on both platforms where not working. One did not take cash one out of use. Still said i won't take cash. What i don't understand is the machines get empted by ticket office staff they got to touch cash then. One chap said put plastic gloves on then. It's been over 2 years now and that person is still there.

Frankly, such attitudes will hasten the demise of ticket offices.

Please do make a formal complaint to the train company that operates the ticket office.
