Wouldn't it make sense to bring the class 153s down to stranraer along with the 156 a few times a day from glasgow? A lot of people come from glasgow for cycling or onto the ferries and i feel like it could make sense to get a few more for those services, what do you think?

Does the number of cyclists on Stranraer trains frequently exceed the number of bicycle spaces on a 156?

There are no trains from Glasgow to Stranraer in the current (non-temporary) timetable, also, as a local on the line I don't see many people use the cycle spaces. If demand for cycle spaces pick up then sure, but at the moment you'd be lucky to even see 6 people head down to Stranraer on each service.

Anyone heading for the ferries will be going to Ayr for the buses to Cairnryan.

Do the buses take bikes? If not, cycling from Stranraer is a sensible option.
From experience, yes they do. I've done it multiple times. The bikes go in the luggage hold of the coach

Cycling from Stranraer, which would be along an A road with a lot of HGV traffic, past the P&O terminal to the Stena line terminal, would be a very unattractive option for most. Much easier and safer to use the bus from Ayr to the ferry terminal
