Why are there destinations in Avantix for "Any Arriva XCSTN", "Any ATW Stn", and so on?

Used for issuing penalty fares I think. You may find there are fares defined to J777 PENALTY PAYMENT or "PENALTY WARNING". Doesn't explain why these exist for operators that don't operate penalty fares schemes though. Nor why the Penalty Payment ticket type is a apparently a season ticket.

Even more curiously, it seems a Penalty Fare issued in this way is a season ticket valid for exactly two days (i.e. if you tick the season ticket box and put in 0 months and 2 days, it will show up).

I use it when issuing Penalty Fares, presume it's also used by staff who issue UPFNs. It's listed as a season ticket because the Penalty Payment ticket needs a certain number to be put into the photo ID field.

We used to use this when issuing a ticket on board a train when pf's first started to warn passengers, this was printed at the same time as the ticket, from silverlink county to iirc penalty fare but j777 rings a bell.

Also EMT's Red Dot Day tickets are issued (or were on the 5th March) from East Midlands Parkway to Any EMT Station.

But I agree the main use is related to Penalty Fares.

with FGW we use them for PF and UFN part payments (obviously if the customer is paying all of the UFN then there's no need to issue one in the first place!)

I do, would rather it be a part of my bookup then having to balance it later.

think you missed my point, if the customer has the funds to pay the whole amount then you would just sell them a ticket!

I've also noticed on Avantix, the discount bit has an option for 'XC RPI'- Why would they not just issue tickets under the normal 'public' bit?
Seperate question- if you wanted to issue, say a rover ticket, would the process be: enter valid origin, enter destination as (name of rover- e.g. Alr) then enter? When i've tried it before, it comes up with 'no fares' etc. Similarly, why do rover types also show up on the discount section?

Most rovers have to be issued through the rover enquiry section of Avantix which doesn't come as part of the Avantix Traveller software.

And there's a menu for rangers and rovers in the TiS I use...not that I ever use it mind given the lack of rovers in the London area.
