Edinburgh to London (Aug Weekends)

Howdy all,

I'm sure this has been asked time and time again but I'm looking for cheap fares to London from Edinburgh

Departing Edinburgh after 7pm on the Friday
and Back into Edinburgh for the start of business Monday

Any weekend this month, ideally before Aug 17th as that is when my YP railcard expiries.

Two passengers. 1 Adult and 1 YP Rail Card holder.

Any thoughts on how to to this cheaply?

Advance tickets. However a journey booked further in advance may be cheaper than one booked soon with a railcard.

You could try Newcastle and York as splitting points - the differing TOCs might give you a better availability of advances than going straight through

Then again they may not.

Sorry, I can't find a combination of splits with a total less than the £114.60 (Railcard £75.65) Super Off-Peak Return (SSR). That ticket has Restriction 1K, and should meet your needs.

EC do Weekend First Upgrade, priced £25 single for Edinburgh - London. No Railcard discount on the supplement.

It's currently slightly cheaper to buy two super off-peak singles via the East Coast website: £56.80 (Railcard £37.50) each way, or £113.60 (£75.00)

Also, without travelling on the sleeper or breaking your journey somewhere overnight, the latest that you can leave Edinburgh to get to London on a Friday evening is 18:52 - what is the earliest on a Friday that you can leave?

as I said in another thread, the Festival soaks up all the cheap tickets to and from Edinburgh from England, especially london, way in advance for August. Yes, you're going away afrom Edinburgh, but so are a lot of people who've already come up.
