I believe a morning rush hour Worcs - dorridge - snow hill - tyseley depot will be diagramed for 2 x 170 using Worcs crews. No other 170 diagrams on dark side as far as i'am aware due to lack of knowledge by Leam & Snow hill crews.
As regards 170 displaced by using 150/153 on Hfd diagram i'am led to believe it will be used to strengthen another Hfd diagram to ensure all services are minimum 3 cars.

Forgot to add the 150 used on Hfd services on Sunday starts off working in the Dark side(snow hill)services.

That's the plan. But please don't hold your breath! Heard it all before. Hereford services are very well used & busy all day. Worcs crews have been pressing for 3 cars + for along time especially as some 170's sit spare at Tys during the offpeak.

Well my list is updated but Northern seem to have 17 units?

If you mean the list in post #14 you also only show FGW as getting 9 x 150s, but we know they are getting 11 altogether from LM now. I'm not following the actual TOPS numbers though, just the total going to each TOC.

I see 150007 and 009 have been split now, having had 150107 on Friday and observed 109 sat at Shrub Hill earlier. Apologies if this is ancient news, not been keeping too up to date with 150s lately I'm afraid.

A 170 worked through Rowley this morning to B'ham around 11am!

Another worked through Old Hill around 1230, although I didn't notice the number or exact time. I was more interested in 150019 which I was on to Great Malvern :D

How about this:

8 carriages as 156 replacement
12 carriages as 180 replacement
8 carriages as additional capacity promised initially
Total 28 - previously announced - and described in that much quoted FOI request

Then
8 carriages as extra capacity just recently announced by DfT
Total now 36

Yes for some reason I switched between carriages and trains when typing out the list.

Well my list is updated but Northern seem to have 17 units?

It's quite simple where the units have been allocated even though we don't know exactly which units are going where.

18 x 2 car 150s to go from LM to Northern
11 x 2 car 150s to go from LM to FGW
2 x 153s to go from LM to FGW
3 x 2 car 150s to remain at LM
2 x 3 car 150s unallocated
Mismatched 150 vehicles x 2 unallocated.

150117 out with 150018 on the 07.58 from Dorridge this morning (21st). Still solid 150s on the Leamington line at the moment 172s seem to be still sticking to the Stratford at the moment.

150126 was on the 12:51 GMV-Weymouth today, so back on its home terrirtory, if only briefly. Pity anyone riding all the way through!! Still, could be a 142 I suppose!

Why were they transformed to 3 cars ? (any other reason except to ease capacity ?)

To condense an article in Modern Railways in 1990/1..

Centro wanted more seats than the 150/1 and had asked BR to build centre cars for them. When 2x 150/2 cars where written off they used the seats form these cars as trial (they had to move the equipment cupboard and emergency coupling to increase seating) Centro where happy and it was cheaper to split the 150/2's and use them as centre cars than build new ones (the 150's split where replaced by 158's, 1x 2 car unit being approved by the them minister for transport to replace the St Helens and Seamer collisions)

As all the 150/1's went through Eastleigh Works they where given the same seating as a 150/2, painted in the green and grey with a blue stripe livery and several 150/2's became "centre cars".

At the time the PTE's
either owned units (as in the case of Strathclyde (156's), Vale of Glamorgen (143's)and WYPTE (155/143 and 321) or paid big bucks to BR to change the trains to there spec.(in the case of Centro)

It would have been nice to see some more proper 3 car 150s other than the two scuds.

A bit strange that FGW will get 2x150/2s. If they got all 150/1s it would mean that their 150s would be all either 150/1s with no corridor connections and 3+2 seating or 150/2s with corridor connections and 2+2 seating, which should have made diagramming 150/1s and 150/2s easier.

Do we know if the working of 57209 & 57212 to Eastleigh actually ran last Friday? And are the two cars going for store or for remedial work of some description? 57209 was in 150117 which was noted as now renumbered to 150117. 57212 was in 150016 so does that mean that set is now 150116?

Thanks

The correct formation of 150116 ought to be 52116/57116 going by the class original listings.

The two spare cars are apparently running around as 150209.

Yep, the two car set has been renumbered back to 150116. Got a photo of it at Stourbridge last Wednesday.

This is good news, as FGW Turbo services seem to be perpetually overcrowded (whenever I have seen them). Is this just 150001 and 150002 or will it be 150016 and 150017 as well (the ones with the orphaned central carriages) or have these already been put back into 2 car units?

The report is that the 2 orphans will by hybrid with 153s. the source of this is also the fgw coffee shop

016 and 017 are now 2-cars as 116 and 117 and already earmarked for cascade to Northern, the orphans were joined and sent to Eastliegh (purpose unknown).

Interesting!

Can they fit a toilet similar to the remainder of the class or will it need to be fitted with a disabled toilet and retention tanks?
