I'd love to go on it but my first train from Cambridge gets to Birmingham New Street at 08:05, so fifteen minutes too late :(

Ah well, means I'll have to devote my Great Escape on the 5th to pure 150 bashing <D Anyone know what the 150:172 ratio is likely to be on the 5th November?

Do not expect to see much in the way of 150s by Nov 5th, There use is diminishing by the week. I travelled from Kidderminster to Brum and back today and there were very few 150s about and a lot of 172s.

Where does it say that?

On the website. "The day will start at Birmingham Snow Hill at 0750 and pick up at Smethwick Galton Bridge (0807), Rowley Regis (0812), Stourbridge Junction (0822), Kidderminster (0834), Droitwich Spa (0848) and Worcester Shrub Hill (0900)." No mention of Birmingham New Street.

I assume the '08' at Tyseley won't be involved any hauling of the train within the depot confines given that it isn't mentioned at all?

You could always book a Travelodge or something...

Good luck finding any 150s on the 5th...

Hi there. With the farewell tour can you get on and off anywhere at any time during the day because much as I love 001, I don't want to do 12 hours and also not at 8:05. Thanks!

The 150s are going to FGW and Northern, though I don't have the full breakdown.

I'd imagine that there would be no problem with bailing at any point during the duration of the 150 Farewell tour. I might end up doing similar myself, it depends what seems like a good idea after a few drinks. :D The only inconvenience perhaps would be to yourself for not getting as much value out of the £20 you've paid for the ticket.

It looks like I've got a ticket booked for this now. I'll be the long haired, bearded bloke surrounded by bottles of Old Peculier. :)

Go on, you know you want to! Might as well make the effort whilst it's on your doorstep, after all it'll be a long time until you get on it again. I'll be on it from 0750 to 2015, although of course that includes the breaks which total over an hour off the train.

Depends how dedicated you are I suppose. When it came to 43002 and 43003's final day on December 1st 2007, there was no way I wasn't spending the entire day on them. That meant some long journeys and an all-nighter in both Exeter and London before and after the day respectively. However it was well worth the effort and I still don't regret it nearly 4 years later. Think 3rd and 4th January 2008 were worse though, but let's not go there...

Shame the tour doesn't end in Hereford, I'd be well chuffed at covering some territory on a 150 that they used to cover all the time. Did Hereford on 150019 back in August though, so I'm happy.

Regarding riding on any 150s on 5th Nov, you will be lucky as I normally pop out early on Saturdays on the Leamington line (normally to photograph the liners) but today only produced one (150015) on the 09.09 Dorridge - Kidderminster as all other services were 172 whereas the majority were 150 last week!

Can't do the farewell tour but hope to catch up with it lineside at some point on the day.

Lifford curve would be good but Town is a no no, what with the PPM unit taking the branch all day nipping there and back inbetween services is probably impossible.

Unless there is a dramatic redrawing of the schedule for the day compared to what has already been published, then the tour is covering neither of these.

A full route listing and schedule has already been made available by LM, which can be accessed in PDF format by clicking the link near the bottom of the text on this page here:
http://www.londonmidland.com/your-journey/farewell-150/

It carries the usual provisos about the final timings being at the behest of Network Rail, as is usually the case with such tours, but I can't see things being changed very much, if at all, between now and next Saturday.

Timings are in which include a visit to Tyseley depot, got a thirty minute layover there, don't know if that allows a visit of a number of roads in the depot or what.

My ticket arrived in this mornings post (ticket no.029) along with a thank you letter and an A4 size farewell 150 schedule poster, it states in the letter and on the ticket that it's valid for the 150 charter "and connecting LM services" to meet or leave the tour and travel back to original station. That will save me a few quid with connections.

For anybody interested the headcode is 1Z50 Snow Hill - Bridgnorth and 1Z51 Bridgnorth back again. Timings are on Freight Locate for any subscribers.

Does that mean that so long as I use LM, I can travel back from Worcester to Hereford after the tour for no extra ching? I wonder if I can go up to Birmingham on Friday for no extra ching too, but I seriously doubt I can get that too.

I've just been reading this and I read it as that if you were leaving/joining the train part way round, the ticket would get you back to your original destination (i.e. you get on at Snow Hill, leave at Worcester, and the ticket will get you back to Snow Hill on any other LM service). They're not really offering to cover everyone's fares for getting from home to the train are they?

Well that's how I read it when I read the letter, and to be honest I'm planning on doing a WMDR on Friday anyway, with a single from Worcester to Hereford for my last ever ticket bought with a Y-P for the trip home. Got plenty to do on Friday, hopefully there will be some 150s out, if not there's still stupid amounts of stuff to do.

Starship bashing for one :D
