Hi Everyone,
I'm of to York on Saturday 17th to see two railtours, and they are both in the space of 30 Mins. The First one Arriving at 12:45 and departing for the sidings at 13:18 is 'The Christmas White Rose', hauled by castle class 5043 'Earl of Mount Edgcumbe'
I think it departs from York Back to Tynesly at about 18:00
Here is the Link to the times for this one, http://www.uksteam.info/tours/t11/t1217c.htm

Then the other one is also the 'Christmas White Rose'
This Arieves at at about 13:15 and then deoarts for Kings Cross at 17:05
The Locos on this tour are: For Coming into to York 70013 Class 7MT Brittania 'Oliver Cromwell' and then coming out is A4 4492 'Dominon of New Zealand'

I am looking forward to this event, and will get some videos and pictures.

It Certenly is good timing, they could both be in the station at the same time if they are all on time. I'm hoping the A4 Could be in the NRM, so if it is too late to see it depart. I'll have to see.

Sounds like a good plan, "lets go to York shopping", I must say that I have used that one so many times now that the good lady knows we will be seeing railway related things.;)

bocaj - if you are travelling from Garforth, you may be interested to learn that a Garforth to Wressle ticket is valid via York (there is an easement to permit this) ;) This is about £3 cheaper than a York ticket.

It is a good point though; kettle veg levels will be off the scale.

That is why I was hoping there would be barriers, usually the most obnoxious "my photo is most important and my camera is the most expensive so I can push this child out of the way to get a shot and hang over the edge of a platform" sorts will also refuse to pay for a platform ticket.

I wonder which platforms they will be using? UK steam info doesn't show the ECS run on the Castle service until after the second train is due in and they are surely not going to be able to fill both central platforms with excursions.

I know, if we all stood back we'd all get good shots and not be safety hazards to ourselves. :( I think also these people block the platforms and inconvenience paying passengers (who of course should always be given priority). All this does is give weight to the 'trainspotter' stereotype that people have of us.

The Day has been amazing! I have manged to see a tone of locos, and 4 in full steam, also I have managed to cab two more locos while in steam.

The First Railtour was the one with 'Early of Mount Edgecome' hauling it. Then, a while later, Oliver Cromnwell Pulledd in and they both stood side by side.

Then, when they had both gone we went over to the NRM. As We walked around, we got to near the turntable inside the Great Hall, and looked to a veiw of 4492 'Dominion of New Zealand in the Carparck, where they hold all the out side events. We Rushed out and Spend about Half and Hour admiring her. I was quite supprised that she looked a bit run down, but she is often on Railtour duteis so It's not that suprising.

Then we went back into the NRM and had a look around. We Also went into the Station hall, which the NRM have done a great Job of and kept it in top condition. We also saw the First built Black 5, Class 37 and Class 40 in South Yard.

We then went back to York Station, and found Oliver Crromnwell was going through with what looked like a support coach on a mainline steam moovement. We then went and waited and Earl of Edgecome turned up again, and then a while later, so did A4 4492 'Dominon of New Zealand'
We waited for them to leave, and then cought the train back home.

It was a very good day, and I have got nealy 60 videos and pictures. All videos will be uploaded to my Youtube Channel, ClassA4Mallard.

So, a great day involving Trains!

I was quite shocked to see the A4 Stood out side, I heared it was in what were called the 'Prep Sheds' but I'm not complaning about it!

I was wearing a very bright blue Santa Pod Raceway jacket, can't be hard to miss!

Uploaded a selection of mainline pics. I took while waiting for the excursions:
