I'm sat on this train awaiting for it to depart. I've gotten trains down the mid Cheshire line a fair few times but never known a service to start or end short of piccadilly.
Anyone know why this particular service does? Is it a regular thing or due to some kind of disruption? It came from the Manchester end of the station so my initial idea of being turned back early was wrong.

Its a regular thing, basically due to the lack of paths to Picc (courtesy of VHF timetables et al) one is started from Stockport, its quiet for a Chester and the Guard gets an early dart home as he is booked Pass back to Picc (its a good job for a guard) :D

There's also one of the early morning trains from Chester that terminates at Stockport (I imagine for similar reasons). It terminated (IIRC) at Stockport at 07:55. If it was late I always had to make a mad dash to Platform 0 for the Buxton train!!
